Mushroom help

My buddy got some mushrooms from a friend who grew them in the woods. He is a little nervous that he ate some without researching them. Here are a few pics of a couple of them. We live in newengland. I'm pretty sure he said they planted them in a log.

after scouring the internet we are pretty sure they are Shitake.

Shiitake is definitely one of the more common mushrooms that can be grown in logs.
