Here are some pics of my day out hunting mushrooms, then deer hunting... Perfect day of hunting and gathering!!! The first two pics are chanterelles, then I have a pic of the Buck I killed 20 minutes before my last day of hunting was up! He is a nice 4x4 Blacktail. Then I have posted some pictures of some other mushrooms I dont know. I am sure the little red one is poisinous, thus the reason I was using a leaf to hold it. No idea on the others. Anyone know the names?

looks like the nestucca river area i used to hunt. those blacktails are no tall but boy are they chubby. the lush environment means plenty of food. the blacktails have great flavor also.

I have never ate the chanterelles. Im not confident enough in my identification. Been mushroom hunting several times this fall , with no luck. Found a lot of Hen of the Woods and Chicken of the Woods but they were all old and tough.

right on.. congrats on the buck...he's a beauty... those mushrooms look delicious too...:) we have been having a bunch pop up all over the place around here.. we picked some oyster mushrooms with some friends, while out hiking this past weekend..

Fun stuff! We found pounds and pounds of Boletes this season, and a good haul of Chanterelles too. The little red one looks like some sort of Russula. The one above that I can't really see. The ones below it are Puffballs. All puffballs are edible, but they must be completely white on the inside, otherwise they've already begun to spore and aren't good to eat.
