So I've been on the forums for a while now, and stalking the CC alot lately. I've enjoyed talking to and learning about my fellow knife brothern here, curious of what music everybody listens to. I also found music doesn't necessarily define anybody, but still tells something about them.

Ive been diving into the music world alot more lately, and find it very comforting. I believe no matter who you are, music can hit somewhere close to the soul.

But anyway, what are some favorite bands, genre's, songs, stuff to check out?

My musical tastes run from the gamut from the 1100's (Gregorian Chant stuff) to current (if you call "Celtic" current), with significant stops in 1940's big band jazz, 1950's early rock, 1960's motown, and 1970's folk rock. I have no use for metal music. but I have been known to listen to Country. And I'm a fan of the David Grisman Quintet. I like to put a composer's name or the name of an instrument in YouTube and see what comes up on the play list.

Try this:

This both fits the thread, and the forum.
Shameless props to my best buddy, Jonny Debt

In his right boot he always carries a beautiful buffalo horn Genco "King Cutter" 1935ish
Her name is Kitty...

Ok, I'll go again.
Another of my favorite artists. This young womans talent is a gift to humanity.
Tash Sultana, a busker from Oz...

And I'm a fan of the David Grisman Quintet.

Very unusual.
Sort of an orchestral, blue-grass, elevator music.

Very unusual...
Actually they remind me of "Dread Zeppelin".
That band featured an Elvis impersonator, and a reggae band playing Led Zeppelin songs.

I'll try to remember to bring this next time I'm at the dentist.

Technically, it's bluegrass-jazz fusion.

I'm a baritone/tenor in a southern gospel quartet, so that pretty well sums up the kind of music I like. Groups I gravitate toward would be the Blackwood Brothers, The Stamps Quartet, the Cathedrals, the Speer Family, the Primitive Quartet (modern but with traditional harmonies and phrasing). I prefer the older groups in their original makeup, not the current 3rd or 4th generation of the groups.

I also like early bluegrass/traditional music from the Carter Family, Bill Monroe, the Stanleys, Carl Story, Doc Watson, the Peasall Sisters, Hazel Dickens (also liked her with Alice Gerrard).

Such a sleepy thread!

Here's another pair of ARTISTS! Check out Glen's guitar... A one of Ovation.

I posted Rocco in another thread, and it reminded me of this one.
To quote Kieffer Sutherland...
"Bell tone vocals"
