I don't own a Muskrat so I can't physically see the difference in the two blades. From pics they look the same but there's probably a difference.
What's the difference and purpose of each.

Thanks.

They're the same. Makes it convenient; no matter which way you grab it, you've got the blade ready. Stays sharp twice as long, etc.

While skinning an animal if the one blade got dull, just flip it around and you have the exact same blade sharp as ever to keep on skinning. That is if you dont have the time to sharpen.

I belive.

As the name MUSKRAT implies, this was originally a knife used by folks who ran trap lines. If you had 26 muskrats to skin out every morning, you needed a good work knife. The Long Clip Blade allowed for good skinning, working in around the head and such. And when one blade got dull, turn it around and finish your work. You must remember just about all the common patterns of what we now call Traditional Knives were WORK knives.

There´s no difference between the two blades. They have the equal length and not even a different grind.

As Django already mentioned above, you have two equal blades on each side for the quiete same purposes.

I EDCed a Carl Schlieper Muskrat last summer and beyond for the interesst. I liked the pattern pretty much; it was a nice knife to carry and had great cutting purposes in general. I gave it away to a forummember here on BFC and he seems to be pretty happy with the win. Maybe he can give you further impressions.

As the name already says, it was one a small hunting knives.

If you´re interessted, you should get one - you won´t regret.

See....you learn something new every day.

Thanks for the replies.
