How many of you guys have 'em? Just got my first one. I really like the symetry of the two blades as they cross each other.I know they are first hand trapping type blades, and look like they would fillet a fish just right. What are some of the other uses for them that you use them for. Anyone have an EDC muskrat?

I have 2,a Case Bose, and a Queen classic. Both have clip and warncliff blades.
I carry both on occasion, and I think the warncliffe blade is a great improvement to just two clip blades(in reality, not too much different though). The blades work nice for food prep, and yes,I always said that to myself, those long slender blades are perfect bird & trout material.Great pattern, for sure.

I love the feel of the muskrat pattern. I don't own any yet, I've only held one in a store. However, I think a good muskrat may just be my next slippie. I'm currently leaning toward a Queen with a clip and spey blade.

During trapping season, I have a Schrade 77OT in my coat. Works great for skinning critters, gutting fish, cleaning small game, and field dressing my yearly venison. In some ways the muskrat pattern is a little limited compaired to a stockman.

Case makes a good one.Queen makes another.

Another one is Utica/Kutmaster's Special Skinner. It's stiff jointed, has very thin stainless blades, and can be purchased at trapper's supply houses for about $18 last I looked. It's a best buy IMO.

I only have one, a Schrade Old Timer 77OT. It's in my collection and I've never used it.

I have the Case-Bose Muskrat in jigged bone. It's a great knife. The ATS-34 blades are ground really thin and are just perfect. The Wharncliffe blade shouts Tony Bose, he really patterned a nice blade for this collaboration. I carry it once in awhile, at 4" closed it's a little bigger then what I usually carry in my pocket.

Another  for the Case-Bose Muskrat. The only muskrat I own at present. A great knife.

I own a few but I never carry any of them, most are older Case,2 Camillus,a Kutmaster and I just got a Rough Rider,Long Rifle Series, most of them are new and to shiny to carry.:D

I've got a wood handled Buck 372 Muskrat that I carry every now and then. I also have a red bone version en route.

Has anyone ever used the Muskrat model to actually skin a muskrat?? I've talked to a few folks that used to skin muskrats years ago with a narrow bladed knife like the Muskrat knife but forget exactly what kind of knife they were using...There's no muskrats in our neck of the woods so I many never know..

Blades are slender.I'm thinking of using it when I bring in a steak or chops for lunch. Sorry guys, just have to put it up again.....
There's something about these knives I really like. I may end up not using it and get the rest of the horn lineup.

Yes! WELL over a thousand.

I trap 'em.

I have an old Buck Muskrat around somewhere. It's one of the black-handled 300 series of knives, and it was discontinued years ago. I believe this particular one was actually manufactured for Buck by Camillus.

Nice knives!

I guess we have similar taste in slippies - I have those same two knives plus the trapper in buffalo horn as well.

One of my favorite muskrats, which is a safe queen, is a Schatt & Morgan in dark red jigged bone.
Sterling silver keystone handle shield, and slim because it uses only one spring for the two blades. Really a beauty. 1 of 600 etched on one of the blades.

When there's some daylight, I'll post a pic.

Plus I have a stag German Eye Brand Muskrat which is built like a tank.
Carbon steel blades.

Copy of reply to question in Buck forum, copied for your viewing pleasure, or not.

"The 313 shape of knife is a two blade, opposite end, skinner with one spey blade. Knives of this design were favored by trappers for removing and preparing small pelts. Hence the name "Muskrat". In fact this knife was and is still favored by muskrat trappers especially in the midwest and Mississippi valley.
Production started in 1972 and ended in 1998. "The 313 Muskrat was manufactored by Camillus for Buck and was added to the line in 1972 along with the 311,315 and 317." (Oden, Knife World, p.28, Jan.2000). It's usually found in only three variations, blade tang stamped BUCK,313,Made in USA; blade tang stamped BUCK,313,USA with one nail nic groove ground in scale on front and BUCK, 313,USA with a nic groove ground in both scales. Not considered extremely rare they are still sought after by trappers for everyday use. Other manufactors made similar models.
Price varies greatly by quality. Buck currently offers "like" models made in China, under diffferent model numbers with several scale types. ..... 300$s"

I only have one Muskrat. Not sure why, I really like them..
Sorry about the bad picture..

muskrats are a great pattern, I have one that my girl friend gave me a few years back, it is a USA Old Timer. I used it as an edc for a while and cleaned / skinned deer, wood chuck, raccoon, trout, chickens, and the like with it. preforms as well as a trapper but carries a bit better. great pattern! Joe

I'll be getting more. I had to modify the stockman though. I couldn't get my fingernail into the main blade. Are your liners even with your bolsters on that stockman? I filed them even also. I'm too picky I guess. The Muskrat is perfect. probably get the large stockman then the trapper.
Just looking around the web it looks like a very popular pattern. there's an abundance of them for sure.
