I recieved a Mooremaker Muskrat for Christmas and really like it. for now it's a safe queen just because it's a Camillus I believe(99%sure). Anyhow, Lets see "em if you got "em.
One question I have about Muskrats is...Does any company make them with one backspring? The Mooremaker has 2. I would probably seek out some more of this pattern if they made a single backspring model. One of my favorite things about multi bladed slippies is the way the blades lay in. I'm also abig fan of clipped blades, but these slightly Persian style blades have a nice sweep to them

The Case-Bose Muskrat features one stout spring. The knife is as well made as many custom knives.

The Bose/Case 2004 collaboration Muskrat uses a single back spring. One blade is a clip the other a wharncliffe. I don't have a picture handy but it's a real nice slip joint.

Looks like Blues beat me to the punch on this one. :D

That is a beauty Blues. Some day I'll get me another custom.

Navihawk, it' not a custom, it's one of the annual Case-Bose collaborations. While it is pricey, it is below the price of most custom slipjoints.

if you like muskrats , then you've got to get yourself an old remington. They made them in a few variations between 1920 and '40. My personal favorite has the more squared off looking bolsters and one thick backspring. both of these have real nice snap and unlike the case/bose muskrat these dont have halfstops.

Case made most of the "Hawbaker Muskrats" for that famous outfitter, but Schrade made a few. Here's one.
Wonder if Tony saw this one before he designed the Case collaboration. Gotta get one of those Case-Bose ones some day!

The double etch is a reflection on my scanner glass; the etch is quite nice.

Here are a couple more variations on the theme, with serrated blades. Haven't seen too many of these.

That first Schrade is a beauty, Charlie.

Those are nice Waynorth. do they have a single backspring? Thanks for posting the Rems Flylock. gotta get me one of those. How much do ther run? I know Remingtons can get pricey.I definately prefer my knives without half stops too.

Just picked up a Cold Steel muskrat, new in the original box.

While the black "faux bone" handles are not that pretty, it's a real solid knife -
and both "Carbon V" blades are razor sharp.

(Made in the USA by Camillus, of course.)

Had one of those. Pretty nice knife. Still have the stockman and folding hunter. I too like the Carbon V (0170-6C) blades, despite the less than stellar scales the steel is sometimes clothed with.

Blues, I just got done staring at you knives again. I can't get over the color of the blade steel of that Kerry Hampton folder that's in your avatar. It's like the perfect folder. Waynorth, the more I see those Schrades the more I want them.

The current Queen made Muskrat with D2 blade steel is made with a single backspring.

Yes. And it is quite soft, which is to my liking.
I have it in a dark Cocobolo.
The Etched blade is thinner than the second blade, and is cranked forward, so the top half of the blade is thinner for fine work.

Quite suprised how much I like it!

I have a lot of muskrat love! I've been edc'ing a Case damascus muskrat and a Case CV muskrat and impatiently waiting on my Case/Bose muskrat!!! Now all I need Is an old Remington, A Queen, A couple of Eye brands, A bulldog, A Schatt & Morgan, Great Eastern, an old Schrade Walden, a Doghead, A USA old Timer, a couple of Moore Makers( working and Smooth bone)...............Too many Muskies, too little time!!!!

Could someone please post a photo of the backspring from the top or bottom view. Thanks a lot.
