Musso Bowie Question

I have my own ideas, but I'd like some others' opinions.

How is the brass spine attached to a Musso Bowie?

When the Blockade Runner Modern Greece was salvaged recently they found brass selves among badly rusted knife blades, the Modern Greece was sunk by union guns early in the civil war. There was no mention about the method of attachment to the blades. At one time (1950's) there were some copies made that were sold as originals, I have no idea how they were attached.

The brass spine on the Musso is a section of brass channel over the blade spine, soldered in place.
