I'm feeling that burning itching desire for a new knife. Good lord it's almost unbearable!

Sometime, soon...must not give up hope...

Ack!

With your planned visit to Blade West now cancelled, Lorien,
come to the June 2010 BLADE Show in Atlanta. Join me in the
introduction of my new book and get to handle HUNDREDS of
knives before deciding...

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Magnus, your post made my day. Gotta keep my eye on the prize(s)!

David, I'd love to join you, but June is my busy season and my shop isn't yet at a point where I can go frolicking at Blade:( It will be a couple of years until I can afford a trip like that. I will be there with you in spirit, at the least:)

Funny story from last night;

my forays into Bladeforums always start here in C&H, then I head on over to the classifieds to see what's going on. Haven't seen much of anything of any interest there for quite awhile.

So, last night, moments after starting this thread, I head on over to the classifieds, and there is a sweet, but imperfect, knife for sale.

I've had my eye on this particular knife for a couple of years now. I couldn't believe it was up for grabs and for only two hundred bucks! For that price I can enjoy the knife even though it has problems, and would likely try and fix it myself.

Funny coincidence all around, but check out this link, compare the time the posts were made, and imagine how my heart sank.

But that's how she goes.
:)

AHH!! I feel so bad Lorien. I must have totally forgot about your interest in this knife. I would have sent you an email right away if I had remembered. I should have thought of it since I know you like this style of blade.

:( I actually feel really bad! I'll be honest, the reason I put these up is because I saw Don Hansons pirate folder and suddenly felt the need to own it. However, thats not gonna work out for me regardless since probably around eight thousand people probably asked him for it first :)

Magic can still happen though. Just keep an eye on ebay from time to time. Weird things happen on there sometimes as did for me recently.

get over it Jon:) It's ok, and like I said in the pm, I appreciate the ironical occasions in life.

Fact is, if I wasn't busy putting this stupid thread together, that knife would be on its way to me now.

All you have to do, Lorien is arrive Thursday evening and leave
on Sunday evening... Can't be all that difficult, can it?

The added value of such a visit/meeting will be enormous!!

Maybe arrive Thursday late afternoon so as not to miss the
CKCA meeting/dinner... :)

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Lorien, perhaps you could come down to Batsons the second week of April? Get to see some knives AND learn to make 'em too :)

David, you've got me contemplating Blade pretty seriously. I looked into airfares and the like this morning...

Will- I would love to come down and chill at Batson's with you guys. Really and truly, thanks for the invite!:)

Rolf, I don't know what to say. Firstly, I have no infi. Secondly, I might have the soul of a knife maker, but no finished knives. I'm flattered, but well, 'damn good Maker' isn't a way I'd describe myself when it comes to knives.

I made a pretty awesome bike shop though, and I'm damn proud of that!

that would be awesome Magnus:thumbup:
I'll have to play it by ear...
