Hey I guys I have a question. Since I've browsing around these forums I see sum of ya order a lot of your case and GEC knives on line. Dont y'all have local knife dealers close that y'all buy from? Here in Abingdon, va they are ton of case dealers. I usually get cases cheap. Like yellow soddie jrs for 15$ and they ain't a month old or a large amber stockman in cv for 40$. And vintage cases are a dime a dozen here. I was just wondering if it was like that any where else?

My "local" knife shop is 176 miles away. On an average day, I'm carrying a better selection of knives than are available locally.

Every farm, hardware, and Hunting store are usually gold or platinum dealers but u pay for them. U can go to a couple places on certain days of the week and get knives from guys that just sell and trade knives. We have some kin folk that live in Ohio and cases are few and far between there.

Pretty much this, Santa Barbara is a pretty small town, next best thing would be going to the cold steel factory shop in Ventura, but if I want a traditional I typically hit up places in LA or near Irvine

I dont have any good knife shops near by that sell any traditional knives. I have yet to see a case knife in real. The only GECs i have seen are the ones I own :)

I have never seen a Case knife in a store. The only ones that I have ever seen are the ones that I have bought from on-line dealers and E-bay.

I live in arkansas.
If I had to estemate there is probably, oh, around 15 case knife dealers within 25 miles of me. Most are hardware, and feed stores and only have a small selection but some have several display cases full of them  Head about 70 miles and to where we camp then there is another 10 or 12 within a 20 or so mile radius, most of course, still small selection, but there is one place that probably has around 75 or so to choose from at very competitive prices for a individually owned store. I walked out with a case Chestnut bone sway back jack for I think 72 bucks, and thats with tax.

To me it´s like with Mike ... over the Atlantic Ocean for american traditionals. But for german knives - I life in wonderland. At every hunting store Hartkopf, Otter, Böker and so on is available :)

Always a point of view...

Kind regards
Andi

What Jack said. Not exact, but same idea. I was by a huge shop in delaware but I didn't want to stop in. NO NEW KNIFE purchases for me. Its been very challenging.

I guess u have to order cases and such liven in Europe or other places. But at least u have access to eye brands or bokers. What's said is I was at one of the farm supplies stores getting wire this mornin and seen tha schrade display and they wanted twenty and thirty dollars for junk. I could get two soddie jrs for one china made knife

When I was a kid it seemed every hardware store had a Case display, Schrade, and even some Swiss Army. I remember going in a six years old and staring at the selection, I still have my first knife from there. Now it seems the only knives I can find a sporting goods, or hardware stores are multi tools, Gerber, and maybe Swiss Army. When I bought my Boker six years ago I looked online and drove through two states just to hand pick, now I use the Internet and if I'm not happy send it back. I've found a Case dealer I trust, and a GEC dealer I trust.

I live in a fairly populated area. The only case dealer we have hardware/building supplystore. Poor selection, ok prices. Decent folders are almost impossible to find. Decent prices for decent folders are impossible to find. I buy online.

I had the luck of my local hardware store still having some left over USA Schrades ;)

I didn't even buy them out. Spread the good fortune.

Ur right stitch I'm only in
My mid twenties and can remember all those displays. Sum of those feed stores started getting tatical knives to sell but quit bc nobody bought em. Especially the older hardcore farmers. Most businesses say that cases are too expensive to sell. Livin in a farm town go to the stockyards or equipment dealers and 99.9 percent of the guys will pull out cases.

One of the local farm stores carries Case knives. But there are only half a dozen on display and even less that they actually have in stock. They seem to sell more of the cheaper knives. One local hunting store has lots of just about every brand but you'll pay half again or twice what you can pay online. When I saw a yellow peanut for almost $60 and a standard Spyderco Endura for over $100 I just walked away. I wouldn't mind buying locally even if it was a little more expensive. I'd pay more just to support a mom and pop shop. Especially if they were good people. But we don't have anything like that around here anymore. We did years ago and that's where I bought all of my knives. I actually shopped online and had him order me whatever I wanted at the time.
There's one shop about 2 hours from me that I remember having a huge Case selection. Couldn't tell you what their prices were like though. I wasn't that into traditionals at the time and only glanced over what they had.

i have a case dealer thats about 5mins from my work...actually they are coming there this coming weekend
