What folders would you recommend as a "must have" in the $75-$200 range? What folders have really impressed you in that range that you wouldn't want to part with?

From my very limited Experience

Spyderco Para 2
Spyderco Gayle Bradley

The Spydie Military is high on my list and I imagine many will say it. Im also guessing many people will say the BM Griptilian and Mini grip but I personally didnt like it all that much. The plastic handles felt cheap to me and I eventually sold it.

Yea, I had the same experience withe the BM Griptilian. The Para 2 and Gayle Bradley are two at the top of my list to purchase. The third one on my list is the ZT 0550, but I'm not as sure about that one yet.

off the top of my head,

gayle bradley
paramilitary 2
military
sage 2
bm mini grip
bm griptilian
bm 943
bm mpr
zt 0350
zt 0200
zt 0550
hogue ex-01
combative edge m1

depends how you intend to use it or what you need it for.

Nothing heavy duty. I'm just curious what type of knives people really like in the range for their build quality, features, etc. Like I said, I don't do anything real heavy duty, but that wouldn't rule me out of getting a ZT 0550.

My Favorite for that range is ZT.

Others other to consider is the Benchmade Skirmish

Definitely PM2, Millie, and Sage 2. Also the 0550.

I'm pretty close to this- I have a couple of PM2's and I'm trying to decide if I want the Military or Sage next. I think a person should have at least 1 out of those 3 depending on their needs and local restrictions, maybe get 2 or all 3 of them.

I have some older Benchmades that I carry including a mini-grip but my newest Benchmade is the 913 and I really like it. So I would think that a person should have at least one Benchmade and there are a lot to choose from. Others that I have my eye on are the 581, 710 and 890. The 710 seems to be especially popular so that would be a good recommendation for someone.

I don't have any ZT knives but I am interested in one. The 550 might be had within that price range but others such as the 200 for sure are within that price range. I'm even leaning towards the 560 which busts the price range by a little bit. Another worthwhile and related knife is the Kershaw Blur S30V. Even though it can be found for less than $75 I think quality-wise it fits in this group.

And you could take your last $75 and buy an Ontario Rat 1 AND a Spyderco Tenacious which are both worthwhile.

dpx hest = good edc. but any real use and it is disappointing. i sold mine after light use caused vertical blade play. I'm hopping they figure out to strengthen the lockup and i will be considering the dpx best 3.0 coming soon.

the hogue ex01 is the best blade i own for under 200. by far the smoothest knife i own. and rock solid lock up even after abuse

Just looked it up. Looks like a stout knife, but man, that pocket clip! Looks like something off a Kershaw knife. I hate it when knife makers make a great knife and then put some goofy pocket clip on it! (just my opinion)

DPX Hest 2.0 is one of my favorite folders. Most problems of the 1.0 fixed and it's great for the money. Feels better in the hand than the 0550 (personal opinion) and just about disappears in the pocket despite it's size. Great knife.

If you like large flippers, you owe it to yourself to pick up a Fox/Citadel Deimos. I just snagged one in the forums here and it is really impressing me. Light for it's size, solid, comfortable in the hand and has the smoothest action of any folder I've ever owned. The tear drop shaped blade hole is also much easier to manipulate than a Spyder hole- to me anyways.

Other than that the Kershaw JYD 2 gets a strong nod. For under $75 it's a big bruiser that will do work. It holds an edge very well and is my constant work companion.

I cant stress how much I love the BM 707. I personally did not think it was all that great but over a period of 6 months found myself carrying it all the time. Its utilitarian and classy as well as compact. In my opinion its the perfect knife.

If you dont have a 707 buy it while you can before they get phased out
