can't do a search and I know you guys know...

What are the must have SAKs of choice. I love these knives and am trying to decide on a few models that will serve the most diverse of uses and maybe even a few specialties if you guys talk me into it.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Phil

Must haves.......
Of the several that I own, I would say the two absolute must haves are the Soldier and one of the locking models with a saw. Make a list of the features you want/need and go nuts.

I have a bunch of SAKs, and love 'em all. My current fave is the Victorinox Handyman:

I also like the aluminum handled Victorinoxs, like the Pioneer:

Tinker, must have. Super Tinker or Deluxe Tinker can be improvements, adding scissors and pliers. Tinker is the 'always' knife, though. SwissChamp on keyring.

The larger Victorinox models with the locking main blade, such as the Rucksack (pictured below), are also very popular here on BF.

Plus, I always have a smaller SAK, such as the Rambler, on my keychain:

For EDC, I love my smaller, 84mm version of the Spartan. I don't think you can find these easily in the States, but that web site is great and ordering from them was no problem at all. These 84mm versions just ride easier in my pocket. Slide in one of those tiny corkscrew screwdrivers and you're all set. If you're not a wine drinker and have more use for a philips head screwdriver than that little one, then just get yourself an 84mm Tinker instead.
Otherwise, no one should be without one of the bigger, locking Victorinox models.

Nathan S., What model is that in your picture? The Pioneer I own has a red aluminum handle, the same tools as the Soldier, plus a key ring. The one you show doesn't show up on the "Swiss Army Brands" catalog.

My "must have" SAKS are...
Victorinox: Electrician, Cadet, and Hiker.

Wenger: Handyman and Highlander.

I think the Wenger Handyman has the best selection of tools without haveing too much bulk and weight.

Good luck,
Allen.

I think the huntsman is a must have. I picked up a rucksack a few months ago and have been very happy with it as well. The bigger blade is great.

Ive got the Fieldmaster and the Camper and I couldnt be happier,I dont leave home without one of them.
They are great when it comes to cleaning rabbit, and the saw cuts through bone real well.

I try not to go anywhere without at least my Midnight Manager. Just like Nathan S', but instead of the standard tweezers and toothpick, it has the extending inkpen on one side and the red LED light on the other.
I really want to get the one handed SAK but have not plunked down the money yet.

Any model with the woodsaw is a winner. I have the Rucksack and Trailmaster models. They are some of the most compact of the saw-bearing lockblade models. For slipjoint saw-bearers, try the pioneer, the camper, the hiker, the huntsman and many others...

Nathan S., it helps a bit but now that I see you are in Europe I realize that site has many knives we don't get through "Swiss Army Brands" the marketing arm of Victorinox for the U.S. Our Pioneer was the one at 0.8201.26 only with red aluminum handles. ...but it has been discontinued in the U.S. (however, I got one before they were unavailable.

Trailmaster for hikes/camping.

Tinker always in a pocket.

Executive always on a keyring.
