I have about 8 GEC knives that i love! But i feel like i am not giving any other brand a chance. I have some bucks (110,300 series, ect) and i have 1 case knife but i dont use it because it was my great grandfathers. So what are some traditional's that you must have?
Thanks

Everyone should have a scout knife. I'd go for an older one, probably either a Camillus WWII-military issue knife, or a Remington or Pal.

A USA-made Old Timer from pre-2004. The 34OT in brown sawcut delrin was the most common, but there is plenty of variety in the OT line to suit any traditional enthusiast.

Something from Case. My favorite pattern is the medium stockman with rounded bolsters.

Anything truly vintage. Pal, Remington, Utica...

Just a few I really like:

Buck 501
Case Sodbuster Jr( any variation but I really like the simple yellow CV)
Case Swayback Jack
Queen Country Cousin
Swiss Army Alox, Farmer or Electrician
Opinel(any of them!)
Anything from Otter
Svord Peasant knife

Queen MM, Boker Barlow, Tidioute Charlows, GEC 73s, Buck 110 custom shop, Schrade 8OT, Schrade 7OT, Case sodbusters, Case Tribal Spear (a reason why every custom maker makes these).

Case Peanut with CV steel
Case Swayback Jack
Opinel of some sort, I prefer the #8.

Pretty much mandatory around this forum. Eventually you cave in and get one.

Case
Opinel
Victorinox

I would personally also like to check out Schatt & Morgan, Queen, Northwoods, and maybe Canal Street and Tuna Valley Cutleries.

There are four knives that I own because of the folks on this forum. Sure, there are many others in the stable that have been inspired by the folks here, but four of them were traditional rites of passage. The first and foremost is a case peanut CV in chestnut brown, the second is a yeller Soddie, the third is an opinel, and the last is a GEC Boys Knife. All of these knives came highly recommended and reviewed by the folks here and each one brought me closer into the traditional fold. I can't imagine that there are many people who frequent this forum that don't own these four!
