Musty smell

I recently bought some vintage knives and sheaths from a widow. There is no visual signs of mildew or mold but they smell a bit musty. Any way to air them out faster? I don't know if baking soda or dessicants can speed up the process. Any suggestions?

Hot water and dish detergent for the knives. Then blow dry.

I've also had success leaving smelly knives out in the hot sun for a day or two.

Put them in a box with damprid which will pull moisture out of the air and the knives and sheaths. It will take awhile to work but it will most likely work, were talking days most likely if I had to guess. Personally I would just toss them into a tuberware container with it and come back in a week and see how it does. Probably help with storage to in attempts to prevent rust or the musty smell returning when you get it out.
