MVS-8 steel query?

I recently acquired this knife for pig hunting..it was factory dull so i have since sharpened it to (very sharp)...i must say that reprofiling etc was quite a chore!...do,s anyone have any experience with this knife and or steel??...any info would be great...with thanks...FES

Had that exact blade. The one I had came razor sharp but I don't have much use for fixed blades so I sold it. Although I'm fairly sure mine wasnt MVS-8.

I understand the earlier Seki made ones were MVS-8, and later chinese made ones were some form of 440?

I've had several Junglee knives, but yeah your right I had the later version that was made in Taiwan.

If anyone happens to know who makes the steel I'd appreciate the info for the steel chart

I have composition, but no maker...

C 0.85%, Cr 14%, Mn 0.5%, Mo 2.5%, Si 0,5% and V 0,15%

Took it for a workout and absolutely love it. Not sure why this steel hasn't stepped outside the Japanese market, but it should.

I'm glad it is working for you. I keep updating database and coding 3 versions now, web, android and iphone...
P.S. Still dunno who makes the damn steel...
