I recently purchased a Junglee Hattori Fighter, and so far I like it alot, but I have no idea what MVS-8 steel is. My friend has a Waterloo and I like it, but it doesn't hold an edge well. Is MVS-8 good? I know a lot about steels, but I have NEVER heard of MVS-8, and it is the only Junglee that uses MVS-8, but it is also the most expensive Junglee I can find. Any help would be much appreciated it.

As for the steel question : only guessing but I figure it is AUS8. Some manufacturers "adapt" steel names to make them more "proprietry".
AUS8 (or 8A) is a reasonable stainless, but,not a particularly good one.

I don't want to be right all the time......I just want US to be right more often.

Junglee lists MVS-8 on its blade info web page. It looks like a pretty good alloy. (.85% Carbon, 14% Chromium, .5%Manganese, .5% Silicon, 2.5% Molybdenum, .15% Vanadium). This is kind of like AUS-8, but it has a lot more Molybdenum. They quote a hardness between 57-61RC. I haven't used or seen the particular knife, the picture looks nice.

It is a beautiful knife, but I wasn't sure of the steel quality.
