I bought a MXG gear lanyard pin, bad idea!!!

After installing I noticed closing didn’t sound right, well that’s cause the insingo blade hits the pin. It dented my blade and left a light mark on the pin where the blade was hitting it.

Wish they would have said that the pin only works with the drop point version! Contacted them to let them know, hopefully they can make a pin that doesn’t touch. Not happy I nicked my blade.

Thanks for testing it out for us. At least the damage is minimal.

Please let us know what they say. They should have no issue making it a few .001 smaller. But you would think they would test the product on that model.

Right that’s why I’m kinda pissed, it they would have said “Caution will not work with insingo blade” I wouldn’t have bought it. They could grind down the middle part quite a bit to make it clear for sure. I’ll let you all know if and when I hear back from them.

That sucks, hopefully it doesn’t take much to work the dent out.
Please do follow up on how it will be handled. It’s good to know these things so the same mistake won’t happen to others.

The thing of it is, I have no clue how to fix it, the first owner put a miror polish on it. I don’t have a strop or even a fine sharpening stone.

So until I can find someone I know the dent stays as a constant reminder!

See if the person you bought it from would be willing to help you out.

I’m the third owner so not sure if that’s even a possibility. I know a guy through a close friend, but I don’t see him very often.

Thanks for this! I just purchased a knife with an MXG pin included. Was planning to put it on my Insingo. Crisis averted!

Glad I saved you the heart ache! It’s just my luck in life. I always get the short end of the stick, or get the flawed product that made it pass all the quality control.

That blade was destined to need sharpening at some point (I hope), right? No time like the present to get a strop and learn how to fix that yourself. Believe me when I say you will have a whole new level of satisfaction when you fix that yourself. The exact opposite of how irritated you are with the dent and to the opposite degree...

Update on situation, I sent pics to MXG and today they apologized again and told me they gave me a full refund. Not that I really needed the $14. I asked them instead if they could mil out the middle so a pin would work. Will see what the response is.
