I'm on my way home from G6 and I got the opportunity to fondle the 0392 at the KAI booth. Having owned an actual Eklipse I was able to compare the two honestly. Firstly, the action is crazy smooth. The KVT works better in this knife than any other model I've handled. The blade is skinnier than it looks in pictures, similar to a Benchmade 940. I'm talking width and not thickness. Personally a wider blade would make it look better, but most people will probably like it. It's pretty light with the full Ti frame and hardware. Really the only steel in the knife besides the blade I could see was the lock bar insert and screw. I wasn't able to put it in my pocket but it's thin profile seems like it would carry well. All in all, I liked it but didn't love it. I'm personally going to pass on trying to get one. It just wasn't my cup of tea.

I got the opportunity to talk with Rick and the KAI rep, (Chris?). They were talking about the release and the likely crash of the ZT website once it's available. Rick was giving them pointers on how he tries to handle the rush when he does a flash sale. He said he's seen 6000 people in the shopping cart at once. It sounded like they will be working on a plan to have the sight run smoothly on the release, which is still TBD.

Well if they only make 1000 of them lets say and there are 6000 people in the shopping cart that is crazy! I had hoped with the new ZT lmt ed policy that I would be able to order one at normal prices, looks like that may not happen:grumpy:

I doubt we will see 1000 of these but that would be extremely nice. If I'm able to snag one at a reasonable price.... I will. Other than that I'll be avoiding the rush. I was able to get in on a run of 50 Hinderer XM-18 folders that went up for a flash sale last Christmas. They were up for only a few minutes.

On the flip side if we do see 1000 and they are able to limit to one per person/household. You shouldn't have any trouble getting one

I'd be really surprised, though pleasantly, if we see 1000 of these at a time, especially since they mention the idea of different unique variation batches, but if we do it should give most a good chance to get one. With only one place selling them and everyone interested getting significant advanced notice it's going to be a madhouse of ordering if there are only say 100-250 of them. I've seen custom makers doing similar advanced notice sales with much smaller followings, and much more limited prior info sell 30-50 knives in under a minute including the checkout process. I'd bet 300 0392's go in less than a couple minutes easy, even at MSRP.

My guess is there's going to be a lot of people that don't have a shopatron/ZT account pre-setup with their addresses/payment info etc. already saved that are not going to make it through typing in all that info during the checkout process before they are sold out. Hopefully I'm wrong and there's enough for everyone.

Well, I'll see I guess. I avoid the massive crowds and anxiety of Xmas shopping anytime within the week before Xmas. Much as I'd like and buy a 0392, if it plays out as stupid crazy, like when Walmart opens on Black Friday morning, then I guess the 0392 isn't for me. Would think a non-LE variant shows up someday anyway.
If the demand is there but they can't/won't fill it, then someone else will figure out how to put something similar in that space. Not like there aren't other things on my wishlists either.
