I got this beauty in the mail today. It is my first 112 and it will be a user. I think it may be the perfect size. This will go to work with me tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day. :) What a great knife. I'm glad now that I broke the tip on my 110 and sent it to Buck. If I hadn't done that I would have never bought this 112 to have while my 110 is gone. Buying Buck knives is addicting. I think I'm in trouble.

That is a good looking 112. I keep hoping i'll see a bunch of these on clearance at my walmart, but no luck yet.

I bought mine on the bay. It came with a nylon kind of sheath (cordura?) a display stand and a nice tin. I will not use any of those items since this will be a user. I will use the tin to store some knives in though (after I put a nice soft cloth in the bottom).

Lovely knife :) I have one still in the tin and a user 112 on the way :)

Cool pics and must say damn fine pics too!

That knife is flat out beautiful and for a regular production knife--it's amazing.

I have to call a few Wal-Marts today and check availability.

BTW, did they tell you what it will cost to get that new blade for the 110? I have one around here somewhere that I should get busy and find and send in.

Maybe wrong here mate.. but I dont think the blade swaps are available anymore :(

Thank you everyone.

Rocinante,

I don't think I'm getting a new blade. I didn't ask about getting it rebladed or anything. I'm fine with the good old 420HC. I think they are going to just regrind the tip as it is so small of a break. I only broke about 1/8" or less off of the tip.

I bought two of these tins, was thinking about opening one and keeping it as a user... I'm glad to see someone else has done this.

Anyone think that these could become collectable, or did Buck make a million of these?

I have about 25 of them hoping they will go up in value, but I have my doubts b/c they came out in Walmart. They will be plentiful for a long time.

I don't know if I'm right, but I've come to believe investing in a bunch of knives of this (Founder Edition) type will work only if you are very young and can keep them 40 years (unless you get really lucky).

An attempt to do really wise and careful buying of older knives that are already somewhat scarce will bring much better and quicker returns.

It can bring excellent returns if you study hard and work hard putting the time in to find the knives.

Now.....about my old broken-tip 110 (if I can find it).....it is broken far enough back that grinding and reshaping won't get it. Anybody know what it will cost me if I send it to Buck for a new blade? Maybe it's not worth it.

I am planning on selling them on ebay in a year or so. I paid $25 for them and they are selling for $35. I am waiting for $40 and then I am going to let them go.

Well you can send it back to them and see what they will do. Knowing Buck they may fix it under their exceptional warranty service. If not they will send you an invoice back with the fixed knife.

But then if *I* lived in the US TBH I would probably retire the old one save the memories and then just buy a new 110.

Warranty

Warranty
When you purchase a Buck Knife, you buy a knife for life. Please read the information below for explanation of what is covered by our lifetime warranty and how to obtain warranty performance.

Warranty Information

All Buck Knives are warranted for the lifetime of the original purchaser against breakage or malfunction caused by defects in materials or workmanship. This applies to normal use for which the knife was intended, not abuse or misuse. Buck Knives will repair or replace any defective Buck knife with the same or comparable model (please see “What is Covered” below). If you have any questions about your knife or the warranty, please call our consumer hotline at (800) 215-2825.

Product Warranty Registration
You may fill out your warranty registration in either of two ways:

1. Online: On this web site, please click on “Register Your Product” in the warranty registration section in the left margin and fill out the form.

2. –OR- you may fill out the warranty form that came with the product and mail it to us (address is indicated on form).

What is Covered
Repair of your knife, including parts and related labor, or replacement with a new knife. To the extent allowed by law, the sole and exclusive remedy under this warranty is limited to repair or replacement. Note: repair is not always possible—some older knives can fall apart during repair. If repair is not practical and replacement involves a discontinued model that is no longer available, then the closest comparable model available will be used for replacement. Note: if it is important for you to receive your old knife back in the event of replacement, please include a note to that effect and include your phone number and/or e-mail address.

What is Not Covered
Damage caused by misuse, abuse or failure to perform normal knife care and maintenance; damage from self repair; machine sharpening; knife loss, including shipping to and from Buck factory; transportation charges to Buck. Abuse, misuse, dismantling or tampering with your knife, or sharpening your knife on a power-driven grinding wheel voids your warranty coverage. For repairs not covered by warranty, please see Knife Care & Repair.

How to Obtain Warranty Performance
Describe your problem
Write a note describing the problem with your knife. On the note, be sure to include your name, address, phone number and e-mail address (if applicable).

Wrap your knife
For safety and protection of your knife, please clean it, then put it in the sheath, if you have one. If not, please clean and wrap your knife (cardboard works well) so that it is protected during shipping and that the point does not cut through the packaging (particularly for fixed blade knives). After we have worked on your knife, we will return it in your sheath (or in a cardboard sleeve if no sheath was sent).

Package your knife
Packaging your knife in a box is preferred, but a padded envelope may also work, provided your knife is not too heavy or too bulky. Please put some packing around the knife so it does not roll around inside your package. Please use tape rather than staples for sealing your package.

Send your knife to us
To protect you against the possibility of loss of your knife, we recommend insuring your parcel and sending it trackable by certified receipt (at your expense). Note that cost of shipping your knife to the Buck factory and knife loss are not covered by our warranty. When your knife has been repaired, we will return it postage paid to you. Send your parcel to:

Oh well, not being too terribly sentimental.....I think I'll probably send it in. Thanks for the info.

Maybe I should wait and see how Bungwrench fares with his broken 110.

I bought 5 tins on clearance, kept 1 as a user, gave a few away, and sold a few. Despite less of them than the 2005 Holiday tins, there were still a kajillion of them made. Cool and collectable, yes! But I doubt they will become highly valuable any time soon.
