Nice purchase, I've grown to love mine; not crazy about the sheath but it does it's job. I'm proably going to get an azwelke at some point, skystorm makes some great leather options as well.

Congrats! Take one buckle of the sheath and it becomes a lot more user friendly.

new scale is on the way. marble cake english walnut from jim62. i'll strip the coating and do patina when i get around to it. it's rather lighter than i thought. now i'm thinking 2 wouldn't have been so bad.. maybe 9.. i need to control my urge to get more.

Bullet..

Well your scales are on their way, so that's good timing.:)

As to the sheath on the BK16. remember this. If you look at similar quality Imported "tactical" style sheaths, like Spec ops etc, they a run about $40. The Tweenrs sheaths are a great sheath considering the overall cost of the package. They just don't suit everyone's taste and that cannot be avoided..

One thing Tweener owners need to realize is that unlike the BK2 sheaths which really only fit that knife, the Tweener sheaths fit MANY 4" to 5" bladed knifes out there. They are a lot like the Universal Sheaths that Spec Ops offers. If listed on some online auction site, they should be worth at LEAST $20 brand new which help offset the cost of a new sheath. Its not like they have no value..

I myself tend toward more trim and less bulky Leather or Kydex rigs. I just stumbled onto a US custom maker's Leather sheath that was not originally made for the Tweeners but should fit well. Made by hand from really good quality leather. All for a price $25 shipped . If it fits the Tweeners properly when wet formed to the knife, I will post it here sometime next week.. Fingers crossed. My BK17 needs some trim leather pants.;)

Nice buy!

The sheaths seem to work great attached to packs

i'm leaning toward sagewood right now.. but will have to see with sheath. with nice wooden scales, nice leather sheath would go well. to bad this 16 will be abused soon.. couple of camping this year.. and i think we are planning 50 mile hike next summer. so it will see lot of action.
