Got the Kumar Kobra last week. I think it is a very unique style khukuri. I do like the handle the way it flares wide at the butt-cap, which is kinda nice in appearence and probably stronger with the 3 fasteners. This handle fits me very well.--- Of coarse the light wt. blade makes it plenty fast and easy to control. I think i'll leave the tip as is for strength and start to sharpen the blade about an inch down from the tip. I want this khuk very sharp. I just had a cortisone shot in my right elbow so I haven't used it much yet.--- Now my Sirupatis have a faster cousin.

Jay, to give me some perspective, what's the OAL of your 17oz. Kobra?

Thanks,
Chris

Just out of curiosity, since his is 17 ounces and 18.5 inches, I pulled out 3 of mine.

1) 14 ounce 17 inch OAL village chainpuri
2) ? ounce 19 inch OAL village chainpuri handled Sirupati
3) ? ounce 20 inch OAL HI pure Chainpuri.

All three handled proportionately - like an erotic dream. On second thought, include the 12 ounce 12 inch Sirupati. That makes 4.

Uncle Bill, I have one of the first batch of kagas katnes (that you weren't too happy with, IIRC)-integral bolster, horn handle without buttcap, no chape on scabbard. It's 6.5"OA, weighs 55 grams (70 with scabbard).

Thanks, Berk. That's the info I wanted to make a point. The kagas katne is about 1/3 ounce per inch. The shorter the knife gets the easier it is to make a very light weight per inch number.
