...in quite some time...

My 2nd BM ever... Upon returning to civilian life from the military in '08, and returning to my old job as a dock builder, (and going through a divorce where I pretty much lost everything), I rewarded myself with a good working knife, a Griptilian, which was my first $100 knife, and it was lost into the salty depths after only 2 months... I liked it, but not $100 worth to buy a new one...

I went back to budget blades, learned more about knives as time passed, moved inland, and secured work in a steel foundry business a few years ago and began leatning about steel, but stayed with a $100 budget, (with a new BM in 154cm no where near my radar for the price), but... With a new year upon us, the cap has been lifted, and m390 is certainly not 154cm...

Nice!! I get "Be the Light" but I'm not familiar with the L.I.G.H.T. acronym?

Loyalty
Integrity
Gumption
Honor
Trustworthiness

5 principles I try to live by today, and raise my son by...

nice & welcome back to the fold.

Thank you... It's good to be back... I'll never buy another Grip, there are just too many other quality knives (and steel options) I like in that price range give or take, but there are quite a few (higher end as well as discontinued) BM designs I do actually quite like...

Matter of fact, I got my eye on one for my next knife and first knife of the new year, a full sized satin bladed HD Hard Tail

Glad your back and sounds like your son has a great dad to teach him how to be a man. I like your creed you are trying to live by.

My 1st knife of the new year, happens to be my 2nd Benchmade in quite some time (3rd ever).
*(actually I bought a cheap Timberwolf lady leg and Rough Rider Dr's knife but, you know what to mean).

I wanted a full size, but opted for a mini when I came across the opportunity for one NIB for $100.

No way I could pass that up, when the only time I see them listed anywhere in stock, they are listed for $200+.
(Even on the bay I see them used from time to time, usually serrated and/black coated, selling for $150+).

They box was a tad banged up, nothing dramatic, just not 100% crisp, but the knife is pristine!!! Definitely found me a winner here! Thanks again BM.

I love the model, too. I've had a full sized satin/pe one on the Exchange for a week at a smokin' price but no takers. For whatever reason.

Enjoy it. Mine is one of my favorites!

...oh, and by the way, they look and ride GREAT with a satin BM low ride pocket clip on them (from the Contego) :D

That is a great price!!! I'm horrible with keeping up with exchange here, had i seen it, I actually would've been interested, still am minus the funds... My buddy's stepdad (who collects all things HD) actually offered it to me when we got to talking and I mentioned I was looking for one; "oh, you mean one if these?"
He actually owns every HD knife made I think, lol, but the full size said he actually likes to carry sometimes when he rides.

Feels great in hand though, a tad small on the back end due to the angle of the butt, but hardly uncomfortable, and still a lot of knife for a "mini".

If iyours is still available after I get my taxes done, maybe I'll bite....

No prob. In the meantime, enjoy your mini Hardtail! They're good lookin' blades to be sure

I like it! The light reference. ..does it happen to be a moral "compass" that keeps you "squared" away? If not, I still like it...great looking knife Brother.

Thanks

Indeed, that's exactly what it is... Spent many a year making the wrong choices, and learning the hard way, so any help to remind me to continue making the right choices is welcomed...
Like anything in life; sports, driving, fishing, shooting, knife sharpening, etc. It all starts with the fundamentals.

i dig the acronym..hope you don't mind that i adopt that! =)

Adopt away. And keep on keepin' on...

Good to see other "Brothers" around strategy9. So you definitely know what T.B.O.A.O means then. Another good acronym.
