Scored an Umnumzaan here on the forums for a good price. Ordered an aftermarket lanyard (charcoal/silver) to make it my own.

I've handled various Sebenza, but never the Umnum. As I thought, I like it much more. Details like how the lockbar extends past the profile of the handle for easier closure are genius. The texturing on the handle is grippier than i had imagined. This is certainly a keeper.
Denizens of the CRK subforum, I'll be around.

They are very different from the Sebenza, but in a good way! Enjoy your new toy:thumbup:

Congratulations!!!!!!!!
You just have to have a Wilson Combat CRK in your line up, talk about a grip, it don't get no better than that.

One of my favorite aspects is of the Boss is what I call the "pinch point". The blade tang is almost flush with the Ti slabs at the point where you "pinch" the knife between your thumb and index finger in the "normal" grip. It feels so comfortable, strong and secure. I LOVE the Zaan, much more than the Sebenza in all honesty.

I really like my Mammoth Damascus Sebenzas and they have a classy look / feel, but I'll have to say my favorites are the old pivot Zaan and old pivot Startac. I just like everything about them, the feel, the shape, the glass breaking feature, and especially the shape of the blade.

The blade shape truly is unique. The double dip gives your thumb all kinds of options, and the "swedge" near the tip is almost sharp.
The point is extremely sharp.

Congrats on an awesome purchase.
The more you carry and use your Zaan you'll find that swedge being used much more that you would have expected. It's the "hidden" feature of the Umnumzaan. :D

I agree with the swedge being super useful . This is my first day with it at work .. opening a lot of boxes . The swedge is perfect for splitting tape seams . So as not to get the blade gunked up with tape residue . But a word of warning as I learned this morning . Make sure the lock fully engages . This knife is so silent it can fool you . Isn't really an issue if using the blade . But if you're putting pressure on the back of the blade , using that swedge . It happened to me this morning . I have super reflexes so as soon as I felt it give I let the pressure off . Came away with a minor cut and a lesson learned ..

Great Find !!!!!!! My first CRK is/was an Umnumzaan WC and it's been a great knife. Enjoy. Treat her well and she'll pay you back in spades.
