I really enjoy grinding daggers (just sick I guess) and this one was alot of fun.
Chessboard Push Dagger
pushdagger%20micarta.JPG

This push-dagger has a 4" satin finished blade with the ricasso and flats of the knife hand-rubbed in 1095 high carbon. The handle has inset micarta scales of alternating black/white with matching spacers and stainless steel handle bolts. The handle is also ringed with "broken wave" file work. The sheath shown is a horizontal carry with a stingray inlay.

HOLY CRAP! That has to be one of the COOLEST push daggers I have ever seen!! Its got the whole Ying and Yang thing going on too... Bravo, very VERY nice work there.

Thanks guys.

I tried heat blueing the filework with a torch on this one. I really don't do alot of file work lately, so I thought I'd play. After I cleaned up the surface the depths of the filework had nice blues, greys & violet coloring.

Dan-this was Tess's first stingray inlay. She didn't like it at first but, she's got it figured out now. Man, that stuff is tough. I'm hoping she'll use some on a damscus Claw I'm finishing up.
:D

Yin/Yang, Good/Evil, Ebony/Ivory, Republican/Democrat - whatever meaning that may have for someone, it's a VERY cool effect. The filework and the grinds are really well executed too. Awesome work!

I LOVE IT!

Nice work by you and your wife! Teh combination overall is fantastic, but either piece would certainly stand on its own easily.

Lovely....just lovely!

How bad did the grinder bite you trying to grind that dagger?
