I knew nothing about this knife but I knew it was an older Gerber and it felt solid. Had it marked for $5.00, got it for $2.00 :)

Nice grab -- you could have done a lot worse for $2. Post a pic or two once you get it cleaned up. :)

Don't clean it up until you find out if it has collector value. Some of those old Gerber's are worth quite a bit.

Those old Gerber's can have collector's value.
Nice find! It is before they put serrations on it, so it is early.
Believe it or not, they put the serrations on there to make seem more like a survival knife, than a fighting weapon.

wow, I just found a couple for sale on the net in the thousand dollar range....I guess it was a good buy.

Holy god, what a find! I'd hang on to that one if I were you. Those old Mark IIs are a bugger to find, especially the old L6 steel plain-edge ones.

Nice find. I have one i bought in Germany in 1981/82. Mine has the serrations on both sides. It's not for sale.

Don't clean it, just oil the blade. Those early and colored models are worth a decent chunk of money(probably middle 100's for this one) even in worn shape.

:).

Pretty cool knife you never know what your bound to find at those kinds of places I wouldn't clean it up either I imagine there is some vintage Gerber collector that would pay much more than 2 dollars for it.
