Just got the 20" AK from Bill a few days ago and love it. This one is a real beauty. I think the handle is rosewood. At 3.06 lbs I have absolutely no problem controlling it. Of course the handle is a bit thicker than my others, but I am already used to the difference. I think it would be an excellant fighting knife for me. - More later !

Different strokes for different folks,Jay. I'd grab my 17" Chainpuri ( it weighs only 14 ounces )for a defense knife.

I have to side with you, Rusty. At my age and in my physical condition the 20 inch AK is simply too much for me!

Hi Jay, looking forward to the more latter. I think the sight of you with a 20" Ang Khola will discourage close combat.

For me defensive purposes means the local 4 legged fauna (deer, moose, wild dogs, foxes, etc.) so the 20" Ang Khola seems to make sense. The 17.5" WWII might even be better.

I know that Gurkhas have no fear, but I do wonder how they would react to seeing a bunch of yetis like Cliff, et all, all carrying 20" ( OK, so they're really more like 22" ) Ang Kholas? Immediate friendship maybe?

I think all of my Khukuris have something better as a fighting blade. The 20" sirupati is awesome for reach and quickness, or even stabbing. The 15" AK has close in power and speed, the 12" sirupati is very easy to handle and is still a good size knife, the 20" AK with just basic moves is fearsome. That would stop a good size bear if needed.

Rusty, that's the old joke "What do you use that knife for?" - ans "Whatever I want to.". People are always polite around me, I think its my charming personality but I have been known to be wrong.

The 20" model does provide heavy wrist strain especially if you have not used a khukuri before. When I first got mine, the day after heavy use my wrist was complaining. To stop this I made a habit of carring the AK almost everywhere with me and carrying it out of the sheath. That's an idea for a new exercise video.

Cliff, all kidding aside I have received mail from several people who tell me they use the 20 inch AK as an integral part of their daily physical workout.
