I was in a desperate situation.
I needed to open a box of Little Debbie Swiss Rolls before I died of malnutrition.
Quickly the black blade sunk deep in the side of the box, being ever so careful not to cut into one of the precious cakes.

Safely back in my pocket the trusty folder went, and down the hatch went one of the Swiss Rolls, washed down with some ice cold milk.
Disaster avoided,

John
Sorry its not more exciting than that. But it is some "knife play".

Wow, I've got tears in my eyes just reading this. Glad your alright man, a lesser knife probably would've failed.

Being a L.D. Swiss Cake Roll lover myself I can fully appreciate the direness of that situation. You have made Mr. Sibert and Benchmade very proud! :D

PS. They are best out of the freezer! The cakes, not the knife....

Another tragedy narrowly averted with the implementation of superior tools. Good show, Sir.

Thanks guys,
Im still kinda shaking from the whole experience....
And I know I deserve any smart alec remarks but lately I swear the only action my knives are getting in utah crappy weather is indoor food prep or opening packages- but I would imagine that is 99% of knife use anyway.

Esch: I am going to try the freezer trick for sure now!

No doubt the beefed up AXIS lock contributed in no small part to the overall success of your mission.

This time, training, experience, and a bit of luck were on your side. I shudder to think of all the thing's that could have gone wrong. If you had only grabbed a another knife, what a different story this might have been.

Well done friend, well done........

hey 72,
if I were benchmade, your warranty would have been voided with that kind of abuse. I, personally, would never subject my benchmades to that kind of reckless behavior. lucky you didn't use another brand of cutlery. best regards.

PBCG- yes, the Adamas is very tough for that kind of thing.
I would hate to be the poor fool who tries using an 810 or even a 710 ( Oh the shame ) on such a rugged job as little debbie cardboard.
yeah, right tool for the right job..........
jcarp- I DID roll the edge, but with judicious use of a ball peen hammer and a cinderblock-she back to normal...

I would have to disagree with you on the 810. That M4 steel would have handled the L.D. cardboard and not even broken a sweat. It never would have rolled the edge, either. However, if you use one to try and open a bag of Tostitos, you just might chip the edge some...

^^^Agreed^^^

However it's well known that the primary hazard of stabbing a Tostitos bag with inferior steel is the resulting "bounce back" of the blade. Broken tips are common and in extreme cases total blade failure has been reported..

The CPM-M4 would penetrate but as mentioned previously may chip. Still, a far better and safer choice for this type of hard use.

Bad puns shall be punished! ;)

+1 on the freezer trick. I thought I was the only one that did that.

man, i know this is an old thread but it sure is funny.

... Not what I was expecting.
This is a miraculous story, how are you doing since this harrowing event?
My thoughts are with you
