Long story short.

Earlier this year I bought my Grail knife. A small plain Insingo sebenza. Loved it. Ran into some shortage of cash flow, so had to part with it. Regretted it and thought about it every day.

Finally got a replacement in the mail today from Blade HQ. Just as beautiful as I remembered my old one.

The only thing I've noticed on this one is that the lockup seems to be much later than my first CRK. Can anyone else confirm? (Pic included) ImageUploadedByTapatalk1418339799.109367.jpg

Also, it either needs a good polish on the washers, or a heavy break-in period. Seems fairly tight.

I have a similar story, I bought a sebenza a couple years ago and had to sell it because of cash, missed it alot, not other knife can really compare to the sebenza IMO. I then picked another one up a while ago and this one isnt going anywhere! Also, from what I can see the lockup is normal. I have seen many that are much later than yours.

Lock up seems fine to me. He is making the newer ones a little later than he used to. It does look like you have a lot of excess grease on there though. You might want to clean that up, at least it would bother me. :)

As far as being tight, it really depends how tight it is if it needs polishing on the washers. If it is not that bad, it will loosen up shortly. If it is almost painfully tight, I would polish them. There are many instructional vids on u-tube. Just remember, it is better to take off too little than too much. You could do what I did and just use it until you need to send it to CRK, then tell them to be sure to make it CRK smooth. They will make it like butter.

Congrats on the new grail!

Thanks for the insights fellas! It really is quite simply the perfect EDC knife. Speaking of, its first fresh task after getting delivered today was to slaughter about 6 large IKEA boxes so they would fit in my trash bins. Easy work of that. Some nail polish remover on a q-tip to the blade and viola! Gunk easily removed and good as new!

Oh man I know. I can remember the first snail trail on the old one I had. It's that moment of "oh crap" and "now she's mine" all at the same time.

Good choice! I know the feeling man I sold my small Sebenza about two months ago and immediately regretted the decision. Back in the game with a small Insingo as well but I went for the knife art CF version. Really love the Insingo blade shape it's so functional! I'm never selling that one either.

Regarding the lockup mine seems to be about the same as yours at around 65%.

The action is very free though, there is no blade play but the blade drops under its own weight when the lockbar tension is released.

As others said you can tune it or use the heck out of it!

Great knife, I have both the large and small and love them both.

Lock up on my small is about the same as yours and didn't budge at all after about 2 years of carrying it daily. I beat the snot out of that knife, I used it for everything I could find an excuse to, it never budged; from experience I can safely tell you not to worry about the lock up working its way towards the presentation side of the knife - they just don't move.

Thanks again! I'm going to give it a couple weeks before I attempt to polish the washers. This knife will see daily use. Can't wait to see how it ages over time. For now, here's a quick shot. Just put a simple leather lanyard on her this evening. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1418442582.113842.jpg

Small Insingo is my standard office carry. They do look better and better with age.

Simply beautiful, tomsch. Thanks for sharing. I love the wear. Mine must have been sandblasted with fairly new media because it's a very gritty feel on the handle. I like it. Minimal slippage.

I'm in the same boat. I work in a casual environment. I am the executive producer of a morning radio show. The guys in the studio don't mind knives, but those sales people in the office are somewhat skittish. This blade is perfect. Doesn't scare them, and will get just about any job done.
