On R&R from Vietnam Christmas 1965 in Hong Kong I got a tat of my Kabar I carried everyday.

I was a Machine Gunner M-60 a 0331 Marine Grunt.

I was with the 9th Mar Regiment, Battalion 1/9 and latter 2/9"The Walking Dead" and Hell In a Helmut. 3rd. Mar Div

I still have that old Kabar it served me well on many a Night Ambush.

I have kept Sunscreen on my Tat over the years to preserve it

The work was all single needle & took about 6 hours.

Great tat! Thanks for your service Oldbriar!

I am reading "We were soldiers once and young" and one thing that stands out is how many guys you M60 gunners saved. Thanks!

Very cool history and tat. Thank you for sharing and thank you for your service.

YOU da' man oldbriar! Very cool tat. Say oldbriar, what part of SC you from? I'm in western NC.

Gentlemen thank you so much for your kindness.

I did nothing special in Vietnam but survive. . My Old Kabar served me and 10’s of thousands of Marines and Sailors well. The design was multifaceted with protection being number one. I hope no one here ever has to use their knife to take the life of another to save them self or a loved one but sometimes you do what you have to do. A sharp knife is a good friend.

That's really cool. Thank you for your service.

On a side note, that's exactly what my brand new KA-BAR looks like. They really haven't ever changed the design, have they? Haha.

And I thought my tat was a classic! I don't believe I've seen one like that one before.

Thanks for your service.

Wouldn't it be cool if you can put your old Kabar next to your tat in the picture?
