one of the perks of being a chainsaw wielding tree climber is i get a lot of calls for treed cats. Normally i tell the people to wait a few hours up to a full 12 hours, as the cats normally come down on their own. However some do not and due to dehydration risks they need to be rescued.

this lil tabby is my neighbors, a dog chased it and then treed it. Mittens climbed about 45 feet up the birch tree then started getting panicked.

Mittens is a direct descendant/mutant from Village of the Damned :D

anyways, took up the usual bowl of crunchies and rattled it, then hoisted Mittens off the limb and into a pillow case for the rappel down.

happy cat! happy owner! :D

I have a disdain for felines due to my allergic relationship with them. I prefer being able to take a breath, or be able to see without eye lids swelling shut. Never the less my wife wanted a kitten for our daughter. It was chased up a liquidambar tree, and I had to get it down. I was not bright enough to bring up vittles or a pillow case. I grabbed it by the scruff of the neck and endured the various scratches and bites til Nilla was lowered to safety, by me, the cat hater. I love my wife, and will do just about anything for her, as you can see. Nilla's brother Wafer, was not so agile and had a habit of running into walls when frightened, I actually liked Wafer, but I think he became a meal for a coyote. Nilla was eventually given to another once she decided to claw into the furniture. My wife had zero tolerance for that. Thank God for liquid catnip. LOL. I am just kidding!!!!!!! About the catnip part.

That is nice of you to do.

When we lived in South Dakota, one of our cats go out in the Winter time. We discovered that he got himself up a tree. He would NOT come down. WE called everyone under the sun, and no one would get him out of the tree. No one, until we called tree people. The guy came, and when we went to pay him, he said Merry Christmas, and was on his way. He would not even accept a tip from us. We were ever so grateful!!

Good on you! Life would not be the same without my cats.

Congrats Bushman on #50! If you want more work, I can UPS my pitbull to you, he will tree most of the cats, dogs, and a few people in a 10 mile radius around you. :D

awesome story and that last pic is super sweet!!!! Is it true that cats can fall from high points and walk away un-hurt? Id guess no since you have taken the time to remove 50 of them.

I've seen a video of a healthy cat fall probably 40+ feet onto a lawn and walk away.
