The Delica I made into chisel grind from full flat.
And it resharpens SO quick.

NOT for heavy work. But OH SO sharp. And ...thin. eeek. :)

Surgery anyone? I can pick ANY hair, short or long and just touch it. snip.

Interesting that you made it a chisel edge, rather than convexing or simply thinning out the edge. Have you tested the limits of its durability?

Nope. This is my ...usual... carry blade. City, cello stuff, string and rope, various light things that are fun to slice like a laser.

I carry V-grind into the sticks. Ritter Mini. Or Ritter full size.

This guy is more a "GOSH" knife.:D

Got pics of the edge profile? I've got a ZDP delica that needs reprofiling so I'm open to new sharpening options (ie: chisel vs v-edge vs convex)

i guess it depends on alot of variables like how often you use the knife and what you're cutting, but do the delica's stay sharp for long periods of time?

What angle do you have the grind at? How did you reprofile it? How did you knock thhe burr off the back side?

I'm interested!

I'd also like to see a good pic of the profile, I'm thinkin of doing this to a knife of mine as well. And what's going on with the spine or is that just lighting?

I did it as a lengthy process with a fine diamond stone. Finished at the 15 degree back side on Sharpmaker.
I remove burr with either a VERY slight one or two time drag across a fine white stone at almost no tilt.

When I ..... strop.... it, it becomes even sharper.

The spine is crudely fileworked as I do almost all my blades. Not an elaborate vinework like usual, but it's a very thin blade.

The only thing about the ZDP-189 is that I read that it's less stain resistant than the VG-10 and it's harder to sharpen. If that's the case I will probably go with the VG-10.
i'm just about ready to declare the zdp sharpening myth as busted. it's not harder to sharpen, it just takes longer. but it will sharpen better than any and stays sharp. i can't remember the last time i stoned my zdp endura. a treated strop every two weeks keeps it hair whittling. that's why my endura is still my sharpest knife. the vg-10 sharpens faster but dulls faster. and get this: i'm having a harder time sharpening my s30v millies. s30v produces a toothy edge that requires a long time to strop.

very nice. mine is my zermeno azrael. I can peel a hair with it. I managed to get 2 featherings in one once.
