Well, after all kinds of setbacks, my knife is ready to come to me. What was originally going to be a mammoth ivory handle has changed to ancient walrus, but that's okay. Walrus ivory is more stable anyway.

Here are some photos. Sorry about the one showing the whole knife. You can't make out the pattern on the steel because there is too much light, but you will get the idea.

Now there's a knife that appeals to me. Adam's work has 'his' look that is distinctive. I love the figuring on the ivory. So will you. :D

Congrats Keith on a fine order fulfilled, and congrats to Adam for such nice work. (Now if he would only pay a *little* attention to his photo skillz....) ;)

Nice one!

Congrats Keith and Adam on a terrific Blade.
Adam's work evokes the wilds of Alaska Rugged and Beautiful

Keith, that looks awesome. It looks like a very big knife. What are the dimensions?

Marcel

Keith, I think you will be pretty wowed when you get it. I have seen the blade in the flesh and Adam told me about all the material problems he has had with the mammoth large enough for the blade. It is certainly a distinctive and unique piece that will appreciate greatly in value, IMO.

Impressive knife!
Make sure to take some good pics when you get it ;)

Keth,
Beautiful knife, just stunning. The blade is so very nice but it's the handle that gets me,it is contoured so nicely and the flaring of the pommel/butt fitted with that striking cap does it for me.Add ancient Walrus and what's not to love.Congratulations!
Hope to see more pics.

Doug

Great knife Keith, well worth the wait ......... hows about you setting a small light box to get some pics of the pattern on the blade?

Cheers,

Stephen

Now see here Keith, don't think I'm going to let you get away with posting up that beautiful beast and not giving us the dimensions. :p I know you mentioned the blade length and such in earlier posts, but some of us can't remember what we had for breakfast. :)

I really like how this one came together. Adam seems to strike a fine balance in producing big, broad blades that don't look at all unwieldly. I don't think I have seen this particular blade shape from him before and I quite like it. My favorite touch has to be the bold pattern in the butt cap. And ivory handle on a knife is kind of like a white dress shirt with a suit: it allows you the freedom to do pretty much whatever you want with the tie. ;) Congrats on your fine new blade and a tip of the hat to Adam for his excellent work.

Roger

I just saw the knife in your avatar and knew there had to be a new post in the Custom Knife Forum :).

Despite the fuzzy pics it looks great.

I guess that's the huge blade that you have already shown sometime ago.

Looking forward to some better pics :D.

Regards Marcus

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Yes Anthony, there have been a number of problems trying to get mammoth to work. Adam and I both learned from this experience. No more large one piece mammoth handles for either of us.

I have contacted Adam and asked him to supply me with the overall length, but the blade dimensions are: 12 1/2" X 2 3/16" X just under 3/8". My guess would be that the overall length would be around 18".

Adam says that the pattern weld blade has a hamon and he is going to try and get a better photo. I will read the threads in the galery forum on making a lightbox and see what I can do. I don't have a tripod for my camera, and it may take me a while to be able to put everything together.

I sure hope I don't have trouble importing this knife into Canada. The handle is ancient ivory, but Adam has no paperwork to substantiate this, so I don't know how how the Customs Inspector is going to rule. Maybe I will get lucky and it won't be opened. Here's hoping.

That is one beautiful looking bowie,I really like the style.Congrats and good luck with customs.

Keith,

I don't think the change in handle material diminishes the knife in the slightest. Fantastic looking knife!

Like you already mentioned, Walrus ivory is more stable anyway. I think you'll not regret his using it. That knife is beautiful. Great score.

Tomorrow the knife is going to be on its way to Chuck Burrows of Wild Rose Leather to have a sheath made. I wanted something special and Chuck has done some marvelous work for me in the past. He will have it for a couple of weeks, so I should be finally getting this knife in about a month.

Keith,
Great to hear. Can't wait to see what you two come up with for your beautiful Bowie.

Doug:)

Very nice project Keith and Adam, I've only got about a year to wait, it'll go by fast.....
