Well, I noticed (and was informed about before I noticed), that I was being obscurely referred to in Bladite's warning thread, something about posting in every thread I could and without content. While I admit, I am guilty of a few (ok, maybe 5% of my total) that lack content or have been repeated over 9000 times, but my intentions were not to upset people, in fact, just the opposite. On the other hand, I should think about what I post a little (or a lot) before I post.

I don't know if (and highly doubt) this makes any difference what-so-ever to anyone, but that's something I'll learn to deal with. In the future though, I would prefer that people who have a problem with my posts/threads in number or content contact me via email (click my name, click email, type your issue out, click send), if for no other reason than to keep the forums free of dirty laundry.

On a final note, I honestly feel less than welcome when I have to find out someone(s) has a problem with something I'm doing from someone else.

And all this just before I leave you guys for 2 months..... I'm gonna miss the hell out of this forum, you guys are great, but I do feel a little hurt.
 
I can't speak for everyone Oxide, but personally I don't dislike you or think you're a bad person, you're just very emphatic about participating in the forum and are a young guy who has some learning to do still (I was a complete and utter idiot at you're age, you're not doing too bad).

Keep on keeping on bro, have a good trip.

To be honest I hadn’t even noticed these topic deviations of yours. Might be because I haven’t been too active lately, though :rolleyes:

And where are you going? You can't just say you’re going away without saying where to. That’s just rude. This is the internet, so we deserve to know :p
 
I wouldn't sweat it.

Part of life, both real and online is discovering the dynamics of the group you are involved in. Some do it by taking time, observing and then interacting appropriately. Others, bulldoze in and treat it like other areas of their life, only to discover its different. As long as you learn from the experience, there really is no right or wrong way to do these things.

The same is true for folks that are in the group. Some love seeing new people interact. Others view it as an invasion of sorts, making it less "theirs".

I'm content to read along, laugh and interact where I feel comfortable. OH...and enter contests. ;)

Enjoy your time at camp where you will get to do things daily that most of us don't get to do yearly!
 
oXide, don't worry about it. I, for one, enjoy the enthusiasm that you bring to the forum.
I've been here at BFC for ten years or more. I know that my posts have ruffled feathers with some folks.
A few people here don't like me at all. Frankly (my dear), I don't give a damn.
I spoke out in that thread against singling people out and making such disgruntlement public, and I stand by that statement.
Such matters are best dealt with behind the scenes. That's where I do most of my moderation anyway.
 
oXide - I hope you have a safe, fun time at camp. Enjoy the time you get to spend with the scouts (it is the scouts, right?) and come back refreshed when you can. As far as the off-topic thread goes, don't be hurt by it - learn from it. You are a young man who is energetic and passionate about what we do here and there is nothing wrong with that. You said it best in the OP - just think a little before you post (so much :D ).

I don't think anyone dislikes you at all...I know I don't. I for one, am looking forward to your return with some cool stories about camp. Take care of yourself, have a blast, and don't worry about this stuff. You have a lot going for you at such a young age. I spent all my time wasted on various substances at 17, so you've got a leg-up on me (and I suspect several others).

Thanks guys, I really did feel like crap when I read the warning thread and honestly could not for the life of me think of anyone else who matched that description.

I'll be sure to tell you guys about any crazy Scoutmasters (yes, it is a Scout camp, but the first 2 weeks aren't Scouts) trying to fly through concession stand windows. :D And I'm gonna try to grow some thicker skin and a thinner skull during camp.

Gonna miss you guys, but I will be back in a week or so for my contest results, even though I kinda already know what they're gonna be.

well, you weren't being singled out - you'd know for sure if you had (privately). problem is, we've had a number of people going off, throwing derailing bombs. not necessarily consistently, but such posts gain momentum, there's a dogpile of related snark, and then bam, the thread or contest is just out of control. done for.

it was pretty rare for threads to get shut down, locked, or edited. we've had more than a few lately. someone even got banned over it iirc. i don't like it, hence my little warning. has it done any good? i dunno. i have received a lot of private messages/email about it, MANY people wondering if it was them. sometimes we had little chats. i hope that did good.

don't sweat it. have a great summer.
