My appologies to Spyderco and Bladefourms.

A while back I posted a rather outspoken thread against H1 steel, and now realize I was completely wrong about what I was complaining about. It appeared that the inside of my Pacific Salt was rusting, the lockback, and one of the pins. I posted up here that my H1 was rusting, that I would never buy another Spyderco again, but now I see I was wrong, and it was no fault of the knife. I will not tell you all what caused it to appear to rust, because it is quite embarrassing, but I will say it had nothing to do with the knife. Within a couple minutes of posting the problem on here, Mr Glesser replied and said he would personally take care of it, all I had to do was return it and I would have a new one on the way. That is nearly unheard of these days, and that is why I am apologizing publicly to Spyderco, for claiming my H1 knife was rusting. After treating me the way they did, they deserve a public apology. I was conviced it was at the time, I was not knowingly making a false statement, but none the less, it was wrong. I am glad I never returned it. Mr Glesser would think I was a total fool for thinking the knife was rusting:eek:
Anyway, after a good scrubbing, my "rusty" H1 looks like new, and kudos to Mr Glesser at Spyderco. I dont care if the knife rusted away to dust, after the way you responded to my original thread, I was a Spyderco customer for life. Thanks, and my apologies:o

Classy act. Thanks for that; I'm pretty sure Sal does appreciate it.

Sal is one of the few people in this world I've met personally that have nothing but my deepest, honest respect for what they are and what they represent. I am not surprised of what he offered you - any more, I'd have to say (I didn't catch the original thread though), but it is one more example that Sal really is what everybody tells about him. Well, one reason he could do this is that he has absolute confidence in what he is selling. He takes pride in offering only the best he can, and doesn't accept anything less; he and his company proved that over and over again (latest, sad example would be the Bushcraft. I am still eagerly waiting for the firesale :)).

It takes a real man ( or woman) with a real spinal column to admit publicly that they made a mistake. But don't be embarrased at all Brother because I've certainly made my share of them :o.

I hope your knife was A-OK after you cleaned it and I hope you get many years of good service from it. H-1 is truly a very versatile and interesting blade steel. It's truly a blessing for hard use knives.

Hey in the future if you feel your knives are at risk from corrosion I've found that Marine grade TUF-CLOTH from SEntry Solutions Corp. is a great product to use to keep your knives, guns or any other hardware from corroding.

The Best of Luck to you. :)

Ill NEVER tell what was "rusting" it!!

The knife was like new after a good scrubbin with soap and a tooth brush, and it looks like new, ready for another spring and summer season on the Chesapeake Bay. A couple swipes on the stone, its back to popping hairs. Ill actually be using it tomorrow, cutting some ropes for some new crab pots we are rigging up.

Good on you man.
And thanks Sal for your very kind offer.
I think I'll go buy a salt. Always wanted to try them.

Haha, now I have to know!

Good for you, though, it takes courage to admit something like that with good grace.

I agree - Sal is (no pun intended) the salt of the earth. I applaud you for this post, because it's a lot easier to complain than it is to publicly admit you were wrong. Thumbs up!

Good post that shows you got a good character. Now all we need is to know what rusted it...must be something real embarrasing since you wont tell :D

Good post. Hope you stick around these parts-we'd be glad to have you.

As to what rusted...was it some metal dust you sprinkled on it by accident?

Long shot but worth a try

Props dude for doing the right thing and admitting fault where it exists (and where it does not).

This is one reason why I hesitate to post complaints before taking it to the source...I really hate to admit publicly when I am wrong.

I was thinking of posting a thread the other day about all the stuff I have been wrong about...I opted not to because I figured no one would want to read anything that long and sad...

Again props, and glad you are happy with your knife.
