Hello Everyone,

Before we begin, please disregard the date of the thread. :) :D

I decided to make it my official THANK YOU thread. Adding to the incredible atmosphere of shenanigans, wisdom, and friendship that was established when made.

Original Title
Knock, Knock, Who's There?

Original Thread
Shenanigans that's who.....

Well, guys & gals the porch has struck again. This time by way of Dean. Some of you may know him by his alias - RDaneel, some by his astonishing photography, but I know him as the guy who treated me like one of the regulars and a longtime friend.

Some of y'all may know me from the previous thread started by Dean. Where he discusses his PM to me about acquiring a Case Stepped Bolster Razor Barlow he'd admired, and me surprising him with one. But what he didn't mention was the gift being his fault. Yes, everyone..... it was Dean's fault!

How, you ask?

Well, I'm going to tell y'all like I told him. :D

It all started with me asking him if he had any lovely TC 14's to share or clues of their whereabouts following our PM about the Case Barlow. In which he responded being on the fence about one he owned. And letting me know I'd be the first person he contacted if he ever decided to sell. Next thing you know, less than a week later..... Dean is back with an offer I couldn't refuse. A lovely Smooth Antique Yellow Bone Lick Creek Barlow at an incredible price.

Though, it didn't end there..... I informed Dean that I'd just splurged on 3 new beauties, not knowing or expecting a response from him so soon. And funds not being available until Friday (payday). It was a Tuesday when he contacted me, but he graciously obliged. No questions asked, no worries. How great of a guy is that?! So Friday arrived, payment was sent, and item shipped. It arrived more beautiful than I could ever imagine with a handwritten Thank You Note telling me to Enjoy. I couldn't have been happier!! And after me writing him about the receipt of my package, and thanking him for everything..... the rest was history.

So See, not only was Dean friendly and respectful from the start..... a man of his word about contacting me on a purchase like he said..... not taking advantage or charging a premium..... he also held the item until payday. Talk about a guy who had it coming! Don't blame me!! Karma was right around the corner waiting for him!!! ;) :p :) :D

Sorry everyone, haha. I did all that talking and didn't say one word about the phenomenal gifts Dean sent me. I just felt I needed to plead my case and prove my innocence. ;)

Well, you know what they say..... A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words. Good thing I got a few of them to make up for what I put y'all through, Lol.

Thanks again for everything, Dean!!

This is another example of what makes this place so great - Great people sharing their love of traditional's. Hats off to both Dean and yourself.

Everyone I've ever talked to out of the traditionals section has been full of class and wisdom. This little nook of BF is the best corner to hang out in.

This was what first drew me to this forums, the friendly atmosphere and the knowledge base available through the membership here. Oh and Gus and Elliot and a few other of the old timers . Along with them it's people like Barry, Jack, Duncan and so many others that have kept me here sharing the knowledge we have collectively with each other and the new members signin' up every day.

Carl's boyhood stories and his take on everyday life with old school logic kept me awash in my own boyhood memories of huntin' and campin' with my Old Man. The enjoyment we shared in our hobby and the camaraderie we share as a result of it. The porch here has seen the birth of many friendships with some goin' on 18+ years now.

The generosity and sharing amazes many new members but in actuality it's just the way these fine folks are. It's great to have a friendly place to come to where you can decompress from the insanity, stupidity and plain rudeness of modern society. A place where respect, and politeness and friendships have value.

You've experienced firsthand the type of people who you'll find waxin' philosophic while rockin' back and forth on the porch showin' off their latest acquisitions. I love the porch, it's a great place with great people. :)

If anyplace were more diametrically opposed to the other place people congregate on BFC to unwind I can't for the life me know where it would be and the funny part is you'll find many upstandin' members spendin' time in both places knowin' the difference and actin' accordingly.

Sarah, Frank, r8shell, Gus, Elliot, Esav, Gary... the list goes on. Yeah GW101, you are correct sir, this place is full of shenanigans and members involved in said shenanigans but it's all done with big hearts by a silent section of our little community within the knife industry. The traditional enthusiasts bring a lot of the old world values and beliefs to the sub forum, something easily forgotten and overlooked in this day and age of instant everything.

Sorry for the long reply and I apologize if I derailed or hijacked this thread, neither was my intention, I just wanted to respond in kind to all you members who make Traditional a place I can bring my mother or niece to see knives like my father carried. Heck, knives like I carry, knives like everyone should have in the bottom of their pocket not only because they're always beautiful but they all have personality, character, lovingly worried into the scales while ponderin' the tasks of the day be it openin' the mail or just cuttin' up an apple to share with a friend.

Dean, that was a thoughtful gesture and one that has left an impression on the OP that'll be hard to forget. I tip my hat to you all and thank you myself for the many acts of generosity I've been on the recievin' end of time and time again.

OK, I'm done, you may now return to your regularly scheduled knife admirin' ;) .

BTW, beautiful TC Barlow, I love the color, warmth and jigging on the covers. :)

Thanks Tim! You're a class-act, yourself.

I couldn't agree more....

Excellent form, Dean.

Congrats & enjoy, Dee.

Thank you!

Thanks T. Erdelyi!

You've put exactly how I feel into a well-written eulogy. What is this derail that you speak of :)? If anything, you've made this thread even more special by giving everyone an excellent read.

Thanks for sharing!!

(P.S.) I'm looking forward to seeing an updated photo of your illustrious forum knives. I've seen them once or twice before, but they never get old. Maybe sometime soon..... hint, hint. ;)

Thanks, Dee, for the great photos and comments. As has been said before, the spirit of giving here is infectious. This traditional forum is a place many go for conversation and friendship - and knife photos. 😊

Dee, what a BEAUTIFUL gift:thumbup::cool:

Dean and Tim (Ryouchijtx) were very instrumental in helping me obtain a long sought after City knife. Actually Tim purchased one off the form and when I complimented on his great purchase it was only minutes later I rec'd a pm from Tim. Not only did he offer me the one he purchased he offered to one up it to a NEW unused one with box and papers:thumbup:

He and Dean collaborated and made it possible for me to have the knife I chased for over seven (yes seven) years;)

CONGRATS Dee on a great knife you are certainly well deserving as your a positive force here on the Porch.

These are my thoughts, just put much more succinctly than I likely would've.

I'm pretty new to this forum and to the world of traditionals in general, but this sub has impressed me with how genuine and kind everyone is. It seems to me like a community with a sense of... Well... Community!

Also, beautiful barlow. A new day barlow is on my short list, and that is a fine example!

Thanks guys! The porch gives positive vibes like no other. It's such a beautiful community to be a part of..... :)

Wow, Paul! Seven years?! You're going to have to show me that one (one day) ;). That Dean & Tim are something else, aren't they? You have to watch what you say, ask, or comment on around these parts, haha.

Thanks for resurrecting this lovely thread. It made quite an impression on me at the time, and it was great to reread!
