Lunde had given me the tip that this would work before I'd seen any of the recent SpecOps threads so I ordered a ScrapYard 6" sheath ($28 delivered to TX) for my ASH1 and it arrived so I thought I'd share since I haven't seen anyone talking about these...

PROS >> cheap, fast, well made, and I didn't have to do anything other than flip the liner over to make it work.

CONS >> it's a little snug (about 1 in 10 times the liner comes out when removing the ASH1), and I wish the the velcro retention strap was lower instead of about midway up the handle.

CONCLUSION >> Works good enough for me. The SpecOps is perhaps a little more ideal but more expensive and may require more mods/work.

'town,
I've got my black/black ASH-1 CG in the older Scrapyard 6" sheath (leftovers from Busse Combat when they sold sheathes ?). Has a velcro strap for the pouch and a button snap for the retention strap that wraps just above the talon hole. Good fit, rattles just a bit and the nylon cloth of the sheath could be a bit heavier grade but fine for a budget sheath. Lucked out, I guess. I prefer the Spec Ops but the word is that you need to heat and form/stretch the liner to get it to fit the ASH blade. Unmodified the short Spec Ops (6") takes my BATAC, SJTAC and NO-E. (Remove the screw at the bottom to avoid rolling the edge near the tip for the 6 + " blades.) The long (8") takes my HR, Basic 7 and SH-E. Some have even crammed, with major mods, a Heavy Heart into one. (Not my style.) Not perfect fits but very good for off the shelf.
As to the liner coming out of you Scrapyard, try drilling a couple of holes near the bottom of the insert clear of the blade tip and pushing a plastic wire-tie through the sheath's cloth to hold the insert in place. This way you can cut the tie and remove the insert to clean it out should you get mud and/or grit into it, an option impractical if you've glued the liner into the sheath. Your ASH seems to be satin or DCBB finish and many prefer (I do, anyway) to put such finished blades into leather as kydex/ plastic insert type sheathes tend to scratch said finishes. It'll get scuffed enough being used and even if yours is to be mostly admired and fondled, it'll look better longer in leather. Just, as they say, my 2 cents. Pete/PIGmsayre
