My attempt at a regrind on small Spydy..

Thanks for looking, any opinions?

First try on a regrind, purchased this Co-Pilot from a forumite.
It was ground (sharpened) to the nubs, and had a blunt point.

I am not that fond of serrated blades, so I tried to convert it back
to a plain edge:

Roughed it out by hand on a bench grinder and hand tuned to
approx. 18-20 degrees each side with a coarse diamond stone.

For work I have to carry high end - bigger rescue knives / etc. but
I find I can use this puppy much of the time, I carry it in my jeans'
change pocket; thus the higher lanyard knot doesn't snag, easy to pull out..

Gin-1 blade, 30 seconds on a fine diamond stone is good for days.
Gets mean sharp on ceramic, but prefer the coarser diamond edge trails..

Roughly $20. + 3 hours honing invested. Happy camper here.
Super easy to sharpen now, almost there...
90 % done. Please give me your thoughts.

Great forum, you guys rock. -Thanks -Ron

Hopefully I can try this on a few more..
It's really very easy to do this..

It looks great but I would advise you to get finer grits for polishing or even give it a try with sandpaper and some loaded leather strop. You will get a mirror finish on that bevel and it will look way better!

Anyway, if it cuts and pierces now just like you wanted it to do... good job!

Nice job!

I used to have a few serrated blades, and they have their place, but now I only buy plain edge knives.

Thanks much, tried some 1000 grit and made a big difference.
Will look into the leather strop. Using the ceramic rods,
it is almost too sharp now, using 20 then 25 degrees each side.

The main blade on these is 1/10" thick so there is much thicker
metal now near the edge than on my other blades, looks like
it would punch through the door of my truck with little trouble.

It is my user so just looking for a happy medium where it will
stay sharp for a few days. 20-25 degrees looks about right.

Thanks again, -Ron
