I'm no craftsman, an thats a hard won fact from trying at a number of different projects. I can manage to make somethign that's useable aand I get enjoyment out of it, thats all. That being said I have made some clumsy and ham handed attempts to produce sheaths for my small fixed blades. It also got me thinking about where and why I started collecting knives.

Appreciate any suggestions or comments, but mostly I'm proud of the work, believe it or not :), and who else am I going to share it with?

From right it goes Esee Izula, BK 11, Alan Davis, and an unnamed hand forged knife. The ALan Davis knfie is shetahed in it's original sheatha nd is here maily to show the difference betweenw hata craftman can produce and what I do. :)

The BK 11. I had to make a lanyard for it because the sheaths long enough that it's hard to get out when mounted on a belt.

The Izula, I've been wearing this one over the weekend and it's held up! I like how these two rest so flat which makes them easy to carry.

I make inserts however so the knives don't cut the stitching and I shape them to the knife, adding extra retention even as the leather "works out" or stretches over time. I gues this probably ahs a name but damned if I know what it is.

Here is Alans again...just because:

The one below was a gift and what got me started with high quality knives in a serous way:

An ex-marine and one of the best historians I've ever met gave me this while we were working as living historians at fort Boonesbrogh, kY. It's hand forged with a deer antler handle, was used well but came with a small crack in the antler around the pin. I working on making a loop for the striker I used while I worked there and it came out pretty well, it holds firm. This white leather (I know, not period appropriate) is the prettiest piece I go in this bag of scrap pieces (where I get leather from) and so of course my first hough was how great it would look to keep the rough edge. I actually really like the roughness to this one although if anyone can teach me to sow leather without making it look like a monkey with one hand and a drinking problem did it, I'd appreciate it. :)

thanks for looking,

have a good day.
