My father in-law called me up yesterday and asked a favor. He needed my help to tow his trailer of snowmobiles up back to their land. Without any hesitation I said sure as I love to go up there. The other part of the deal was after we got them up to their place we would go sledding all day.
This is a crappy picture of me strapping on my Campanion at the beginning of the day.
We hooked up the trailer to the man van and headed up north. Their place is an hour and a half up north from my place in Milton to just north of Dundalk. Interesting fact is that Dundalk is one of the highest points in Ontario and the climb in elevation from from my place to the land is over 250 meters.
This picture was taken from the road looking at their storage building. The wood post in the middle of the shot is in actuality 8 feet tall. The walls of snow from the road to get into their driveway was about 6 feet tall.
We unloaded one of the sleds and I was impressed when my father in-law (62 years old) jumped it vertical over that wall and settled the sled on top of the wall. We loaded up our gear onto the sled and doubled up as we drove it down the drive way. Once we got to the building we tried the door but the bottom had about 3 inches of ice built up and we were unable to open it. He started kicking and clawing at it but it didn't budge. I asked him to step aside and busted out the BK2 and used the pommel to smash all the ice away from the bottom of the door.
Some post ice smashing gratuitous BK2 shot while sitting on the back of the sled.
When we got in we had to warm up the building with the wood stove.
the 2 got some use splitting the boards.
I then set the BK2 up on the table to take some shots of the use it got. I noticed the pommel was a little scratched from the smashing and the coating had some wood stuck to it. Shes getting some character.
In one of the snark threads I made reference to a Deuce and a half that we cruze in from time to time. As a promise to Gmoneyluv I took a few pictures. This is one from the back standing on one of the snow banks. You can see the tops of the burred parts cars parked around it.
This is a shot from the side. It was a pain in the ass as I fell through the snow up the waste 3 times trying to get here for the shot lol.
Up there was a friend of our's air boat. Somebody attempted to steal the $5000 radiator that was by the props and loosened the bolts. They never got the rad but when he went to take the boat for a spin the rad came out and smashed the fiberglass props. My brother in-law is a grand master mechanic and can fix _anything_ so this is up there awaiting repairs.
Father in-law clearing a little area in front of the bay door so we could get the Kubota out to finish snow blowing the drive way.
A real snow blower
We finished snow blowing out the entire 60 yard driveway then drove the vehicles down and unloaded everything. We got started on our trip and ended up taking the wrong trail and ended up 30km the wrong way back in Orangeville. We eventually found the right trail and stopped for lunch.
These are the sleds parked out back.
Where we stopped to eat!
An extreamly bad photo of me taken by my brother in-law. It doesn't really even look like me but from the BK2 on the outside of the snowpants I guess it has to be me with a wind burned / chilled face and helmet hair.
We ended up racing back to their land and unfortunately we were unable to get back before the sun went down. When we got back I checked the BK2 and the sheath was packed with snow. I had one more photo to take once I got home to put the BK2 to rest. I dried out the sheath and used some mineral oil on the edge.
Now I write this as I watch the re-run of Walking Dead! Yay for an awesome BK2 day.
