Well My 1st Khukuri came yesterday & i'm more than impressed :D
I'm very glad I made the decision to buy an H.I. product. Another place I thought about purchasing from didn't even respond to my emails they can :jerkit: Yangdu responds promptly even for the smallest, silliest questions. She even sent me a Kagas Katne as a belated Christmas present. She is a sweetheart. By next week I should be ordering my 2nd & 3rd. Early stages of Hikv :p & i'm loving it

This Amar Singh Thapa Khukuri is 18 3/4" long with a 5" handle & 13" blade. The spine is 1/2" wide & 3/8" wide towards the tip. The blade is 2 1/8" wide at the broadest part. it weighs a total of 41 oz. & has Bhaktta Kami's mark. The scabbard is midnight blue with a black frog.

Looks fantastic! The ASTK was my first khuk, and is still one of my favorites. With its thickness and stout build, it's definitely the most like a "sharpened prybar" out of my collection, but it still handles like a featherweight fighter.

Congratulations on your first kukri! That ASTK is a thing of beauty.

Have fun with it!

Is that sheath blue with black frog? Never seen that before.

The ASTK will be a loyal companion !

We still spent time together in fact i just gave him a "tan-job" over the weekend.

Dirtypaulie, I noticed you are in NY. Any knife laws restriction again? Last heard It was really a pain for blade fans.

In the city yea, its a police state, but upstate not a problem. You can't have it concealed # 1 # 2 the blade can't be longer than 4" & you can't have a locking knife that you can just flick open.

I plan on doing some camping in the Adirondacks this spring. Not planning on walking with it down the street. lol

The ATSK is a smash hit, IMHO. It's both a fearsome chopper as well as somewhat nimble in the hand. I don't leave home without mine....of course, I keep an ATSK, an old Villager, a Boomerang AK, AND my Farm Knife in my truck.

Variety is the spice of life, friends;)

Congratulations on your first khukuri dirtypaulie. I'm glad to see that Yangdu's portal got it safely into your hands. Doesn't all the anxiety of waiting for it seem to disappear as you're opening that triangular shipping box? Now get out there and chop something and have fun.

I just started a collection Steely_Gunz

Don't want to spoil your fun but i think you should do this:

Now get out there and chop something and have fun.

Whack some woods and try using Mr.Singh together with the karda. Just be careful with him. Sometimes he could throw a bit of a tantrum if you don't watch out.
Gives us a review on how you really think. It will be great to have some reviews as those are sorely sacred nowadays in the forum.Take some pics and let us know about the handling or anything you wish to add on or reduce from the pack.

I've cut down branches of tree size of 10" with it, have it patina-ed, sharpened to scary sharp and Mr.Singh remained silent and ready to go.

Once you get the hang of it you will understand very clearly what you will want for upcoming purchase.

Ah...HIKV doing its wonder :)

makes sense, i'll get the chopping
on another note
I've been researching doing a patina. What did you do & how hard was it to do. How does Mr Singh look now
