I had this knife made by Robert Papp back in 1990. A friend bought an original Papp bowie at the NYCKS and I "modified" the design. Bob was nice enough to accept my design and gave me a great deal on the price.
The blade is made from a massive piece of 3/8 thick 440c. Blade is 15 inches long and 2 3/8 inch wide at front belly. False edge is sharpened to 5 1/2 inches. Handle is black micarta and entire knife is bead blasted. It also came with half a cow in the shape of a sheath made by Jim Layton.
I also have a Papp dagger that I bought at the NY show several years later it makes a nice companion for my Bowie. I have carried them but couldnt bring myself to abuse such works of utilitarian art.
Enjoy
