I have had a S30V pm2 for about 2 years now and I haven't even had to adjust 1 screw. Then at the beginning of this year I got a blurple S110V pm2. Out of box action was not smooth. I adjusted the pivot and later heard it could be the stop pin screw, which it was. But after adjusted all the screws it had bladeplay. Even when it was so tight the blade could hardly close. After disassembling and reassembling it about 5 times it still had some play.
I eventually ordered a new one and thought I would use the first one for spare parts. While waiting for it I thought I would give disassembling it one more time and cleaning it a last try. For some unexplainable reason tge bladeplay was gone. And was extremely smooth.
Then the new one arrived and out of box it had a lot of bladeplay. I didn't think it was a big problem because I finally managed to fix the first one. Unfortunately this one had red loctite. I managed to unscrew both pivot screws and one stop pin screw and one handle screw. I can still disassemble it with one stop pin screw and one handle scale screw in (both looks very tight. But after disassembling and reassembling and cleaning it like with the first one it still has a lot of blade play. It's been lying in my drawer ever since and I try this process of cleaning every once in a while with no luck. I just don't understand why there is bladeplay. I have contacted Spyderco to request spare screws so that I can drill out the stuck ones and see if complete disassembly might work because sending it in from South Africa is more trouble than it's worth.
I just wonder why this happened to both my pm2's. Has anyone else had this type of experience with a pm2?
