my barong is off center. Does it matter?

I pulled out my barong for the first time in a month or so, and I noticed the blade was slightly off center. I don't remember it being off center before, when I carried it everyday, and the only difference is that I sent in back to spyderco because I messed up the point. I haven't used it since I got it back. I have read that liner locks have a tendency to be off center, and I did tighten the pivot a bit. It did help, but the blade is still a little off-center when closed. Now my question is: does it matter? Is it bad for the knife to be a little off-center? Is it a symptom of another issue I don't notice, or can it cause problems with the knife in the future? If it is bad for the knife I won't hesitate to send it back in or find another way to fix it, but I don't feel notice any blade play and it doesn't quite touch the side.

Might be your pivot screw needs a tweak? It might help and center it for you?
Funny thing how different things bug different people. I'm strange in that off
center blades bother me but I don't really mind blade play in some knives.

All of my Spydercos are off center. My ZDP D4 even touches the liner a little bit, but it doesn't affect the function.

Same here.
Every single one I own is off center. Well the one exception is the street beat.

That is common among Barongs as well as other spydies.. Personally I think Spyderco should do some tweaking to help remedy that during the production process.. But it doesn't seem to effect the function it is just aggravating to look at..

In my case I could adjust center/retention of blade
with Benchmade Pocket Tool Set.

I feel quite a bit of off-centered position
when I adjust it to my favorite friction/retention balance.
If tighten to center completely it's impossible to enjoy flip and snap opening
but it might be a safe tension to prevent carrying accidents.

so +1 to randomlooker and gundude73.

maybe you can adjust it the way I adjusted my militaries. put a folded piece of paper in the space between the blade and the scale that is nearer to the blade so that the blade is then pushed towards the opposite(farther side) now loosen the screws on the scales and pivot while the folded piece of paper is in place. now tighten the screws back again to your desired tension. The blade should now be near center.

I adjusted to pivot to the tightness I prefer (just tight enough so it can't be flicked or snapped open) and while it's still a tiny off-center it doesn't matter while I'm using it. I bought it as a user and the knife seems to be happy enough that way. I always tighten my knives so when I show them to co-workers they can't wrist-flick my knives.

btw The paper trick reminds me of a trick used for bolt-neck guitars. Totally awesome.
