Hello all. Been lurking here and posting a little bit. You guys have cost me a good bit in the past month. LOL

Here is my collection so far and the mods I've done to them.

I like the tan grips. Would actually prefer orange or some other bright color but these will do for now. I did however find the Grivor a bit slick so I took the ol' wood burner to them and gave them my special signature treatment - "s" all over the place. Much better.

My second complaint was the sheath. It was a love/hate relationship. Love the fact it's a hybrid but it was too long and more than overbuilt for my hiking needs. I'm not jumping out of planes. So, I cut off the upper retention strap, got rid of the existing belt loop, folded that over and added a tecklok. Now the top of my belt rides in the middle of the knife handle which is what I prefer. The sheath is also not digging into the ground when I sit down.

Next I put together a front line survival kit built around the sheath.

On and in the sheath is the following:
15' 550 paracord wrapped around the outside.
15' 50lb test trotline cord
Streamlight Keymate flashlight
Botton Compass with adjustable bezel
Jute Twine
PJCB packs (petroleum jelly cotton balls in a duct tape pouch)
Fatwood with striker made from a hacksaw blade
Large firesteel (Coghlans brand in leather loop I riveted to the side of the sheath)

Next up is my BK2. I haven't modified it much yet but I did add a survival kit to the sheath.

The pouch is a single ar magazine shingle made by Eagle. Perfect size and has a drain hole in the bottom. I fastened it on with a bit of paracord weaved through the sheath.

Inside the pouch is the following:

Heatsheet
Large block of fatwood
Jute Twine
PJCB packs (see above)
20' paracord
Same flashlight/compass combo
Breast milk bag
Sealed straw with iodine tabs in it. 1/4 tab per breast milk bag
Few feet of gorilla tape

On the outside is a large firesteel and striker (again Coghlans)

I do plan to change the hanger setup again to raise the knife up a bit and also stiffen it up. I'll further add a retention strap over the top of the pouch, probably with a simple toggle on the front to fasten it down.

The idea behind both was to provide the absolute minimum needed to survive if I was separated from everything else. When I'm out, the knife is on my belt and stays there. I don't move it around at all so I always know where it is at.

Anyway, just wanted to share what I've done so far. Love these knives. Their performance sure outweighs the price point.

Thanks for viewing. Any and all comments/suggestions are always welcome. I'm here to learn.

Cool man, I like the mods to the 15 sheath, and the S on the handles look different. I might have to try that breast milk bag trick, seeing that i have a few extra of those lying around............ haha jk

Your 'S' mod to the scales is pretty awesome. I like wavy look it gives.

Those are some great, compact, practical setups you got there. All that stuff seems relevant and useful when you're in a fix.

Thanks. I played around with some different patterns on the inside of the scales and that pattern seemed to give me the greatest balance of grippiness without it being over abrasive, as some of them can be. My intention wasn't to make "S"'s (last name is Shepherd) but it ust sort of came out that way. :-)

Nice set up. Looks like you put some real effort into making a functional kit:thumbup:
