So i just received a new strop for my beckers, i got this from Leethal Cutlery and i must say he did an excellent job on it so i wanted to post up a couple pics. this thing works great,i was able to put a nice edge on my bk11 with ease. The two smaller pieces are loaded with chromium oxide (1/2 micron) and the other with the alumina oxide (.3micron). Then the big piece on the back is bare leather that has been sanded to 2000 grit to make it soft and treated with neatsfoot oil to add draw and durability. The handle is 100 year old oak and the grain in it is great. theres alot of character in this and im loving it.

Nice! What did they use on the handle. It looks like hemp with an epoxy coating.

Cool strop man. I've had several strops and still trying to firure out the best way to strop...Some say at a low angle, high angle, firm, light, only a few strops, strop for an hour....

Thanks guys it damn sure beats an old belt or wallet in my case :) And I belive it is hemp, or another twine im not 100% on that. i asked him, ill answer soon or he will come in and answer. It is comfortable to hold tho.

I havent had any instruction so im not sure how correct i am but i use barely any angle. i lay the knife flat and then lift the side up just enough to hit the angle of the edge, then i use medium pressure on the ones with compound and light pressure on the bare side. Its working for me but this is also my first strop and the first times using one so im no expert by no means.

I wanted to show the side of the wood as it looks great but i dont feel like gettin the wifes camera out again and shootin pics so heres a picture of the wood before it was finished, I LOVE the grain! such a nice piece of wood!

Thanks guys. i didnt know what i needed, i wasnt sure the difference between micron sizes, or what compounds to use. Leethal cutlery explained everything to me and pre-loaded the strop with everything i would need, he also showed me where to get the compounds when i need more. id highly recommend him!
