Ok so despite several people telling me not to do this when I asked them about it I still went ahead…Just liked the idea way too much to let it go. Not to brag either but this turned out A LOT better than what I’d hoped for. I’ve actually had this blade for almost a year now but just never bothered to finish it and post about it.

All I really did to the blade itself was take a BK-7 and grind the point down into a mini BK-9 style blade since I never really liked the long-ass point on the 7. OA blade length is around 6.5” now. For someone who has never ground down the egde or bevels of a knife before I don't think it looks that bad. Convexed the edge as always.

Sheath is just regular kydex but what I did was cut up the front part of the stock sheath so I was left with a kinda hobo ESEE nylon backing. Chicago screwed them together and then added some $4 utility pouch I bought somewhere…Any MT/utility pocket should work for this. I actually kinda like it rigged up this way. One thing though is this method probably won’t work on the new nylon sheaths Ka-Bar is putting out since they’re slimmer in profile and there won’t be enough room to melt in the Chicago screw holes..

Getting better at my kydex…Not perfect yet but not the worst in the world either. Only reason it splits at the end is because the rivets aren’t close enough to the edge.

To hold the pouch on I cut some 1” or so nylon webbing and ran it across the sheath through one of the MOLLE uh…Loops? At the back of the pouch.

It was decently secure in the first place but I didn’t want it moving around at all so added some Chicago screws at the bottom. Just burn the holes in with a screw driver or some kinda metal rod.

Added some stuff to it…Could always go the route of a MT or small folder.

For scales I took some ¼” midnight tiger G-10 and expoxied it onto a “liner” piece of 1/8th” blaze orange…Just remember to really rough up the scales before you stick the two together. Suppose you could always buy the coarse texture G-10 if you CBF sanding it a little. Ground a funky Damascus pattern into them as well…Would be kinda cool to try that pattern on some multicam G-10 since multicam has that kinda speckled look to it.

Used ¼” SS corby bolts to hold the scales on…

Oh finally the orange comes through! Note the little defect in the tang…Hit the blade at a weird angle.

Overall I really like this blade…Even stock the 7 is awesome. Good weight, nice high grind...Although the 9 has the same grind (I think?) just a wider blade. Really want to pick up 2 more 7s aswell if I get the cash around Christmas, one more to customize and another one to really abuse and leave outside and not really have to worry about it much. Anyway, let me know what you all think about this…Dunno, always seems like with everything you make when people see something good all you see are little tiny flaws
