this has been the best edc kit that i've carried yet.

victorinox rambler, rei whistle, and streamlight nano on a small niteize sbiner.

the features that this set offer in the compact size are great.

i got the rambler from my wife for christmas and have really grown to love this thing. paired with the nano flashlight and the small whistle from rei, it not only gives me lots of tools for everyday urban nerd life, it also gives me peace of mind knowing i can handle everyday urban nerd life tasks. :D

Looks great and gives you lot of options. My current EDC setup is similar, just a bit bigger; a Fenix E01 and Victorinox Cadet.

I like Ramblers , only problem is I never seem to be able to hold onto them .

i carried a cadet for most of last year that i had filed the tip of the nail file down on to make it grab phillips screws better. it is a very capable edc tool as well.

I love my Rambler. It's truly my EDC, since I rotate another knife with it. I have it on the same S-biner with my car key. I need a small light, maybe get a nano for myself. I don't think I need a rape-whistle though.

BTW, Harbor Freight carries the NiteIze S-biners. Got mine locally for $0.67, and the wife got a pink rainbow (TiNi coating?) S-biner to clip her keys (and pink Ladybug) to her pink Coach bag. She likes pink obviously.

the nano is pretty slick for it's size. i got mine at a local bass pro shop. if you have a fry's electronics nearby, you can get a big pack of the batteries for $5 as well.

:o my wife calls it a rape whistle as well. that's not what it's for. :grumpy: i know that the whistle can be heard a lot farther away than my voice, and since i'm out and about fishing and geocaching, i feel safer knowing i have a whistle.

On my keyring, I have a SAK like that one, with red scales, a Maglite Solitaire, and a similar whistle as well. Other than a little Craftsman four-way that is sometimes on there, I don't think there's anything else needed.

i agree. i carry a cole fourway on my keys with my thumb drive. the sak handles most of the work though.

decent kit. Do you carry any other EDC?

i used to edc a leatherman juice s2 but it has not gotten much pocket time since last summer. i was carrying this setup plus one of a few blades for a while, but lately, it has only been the rambler kit in my pocket and the juice or a soldier in a pack in my truck.

Winky, your setup is similar to mine, which backs up the Swisstool on my belt. The Manager is similar to your Rambler, but replaces the toothpick with a pen.

Manager, Fenix EO1, Fox 40 Micro, Atwood pry tool.

I forgot that a Victorinox Midnight Manager is my real EDC.... It's always there on the keyring and functions as a back up for the SAK in my pocket. It doesn't see much use, but my keyring would feel naked without it.

Maybe I should get me such a small whistle too. I have a bright colored orange whistle that I take with me when I go out for multiday hiking trips, but it's not an EDC item. Since I go day hiking quite often here in the area, it could be handy to add a small whistle.
