I have knives I've used for 30+ years and they didn't develop side to side blade play after 2 months of regular carry and light use. Yesterday, as I was putting my EDC stuff on my desk, I took a few minutes to clean the pocket lint out of my BF 2013 Congress. I noticed that the pivot pin had sunken into the pile side bolster and the main blade now had major side play. I don't twist or abuse slip joints when carving or cutting. This knife had great fit and finish with no gaps or other issues. I loved it and and I still do, so I'll be sending it back to GEC some day when I return to the US. I'm just sad. I have other GEC knives and they are all great. I guess it was my turn.

That is indeed a bummer. I've been known to let stuff like that bother me more than it should. I've gotten a couple that were a little loose but haven't had one loosen up on me like that.

My queen 26 stockman did that, I peened it myself and it's right as rain now :)

I'm a purist I guess, I could peen it but for the price paid, they'll do it. I've got a couple extremely minor issues that I'll have them look at too, while I'm at it since it's going in anyway. Maybe it will help their QC in benefit of others.

One thing about the design of this knife, by wants and not necessarily what works, I believe caused the tip of the main blade to be above the liner, and I'm not overly pleased. One day, I'll hit the kick and drop it down a notch on my own.

I'm happy with the weight and shape of the knife, but I think the blade is too long for the size of the tang and bolsters. The nickel silver pins bolsters and liners may have contributed to the weakness of the pivot joint overall. These are just my ruminating, thanks for the comments!
