I grabbed this one in a trade in 2004, I owned many others Sebenza's but I kept only my BG42, my 25 and Umnumzaan, BG42 vs S30V is a long debate :D, in my dummy years I pimpered it, oxyclean, blade polished

bad idea, too much slippery cause I smoothed the handle before treatment
Today I went back to basic finish, I sand blasted the handle at work for more basic purposes, I just let my polished blade and add a CRK lanyard

I used this knife a lot, the detent is weak now and my blade is reduced due to the successive sharpening, I add notch on the blade which is easier to me for my sharpening method an I maintain my bevel to 30° inclusive which is good enough for my matters, hope to see more used sebenzas in this thread.

It seems watches and Umnumzaans aren't the only thing we share in common. My BG-42 large regular is a favorite but to be fair it's not as often used as my Umnumzaan. :)

Great blade!

I would love to have obtained some BG-42 but it seems the closest I will come is if I order something in CTS-B75P the powdered version from Carpenter. I am still surprised we are not seeing more knives with this new version from Carpenter.

Just saw the composition of B75P is similar to RWL-34 with slight increase in Vanadium and Carbon, that tells me enough that I would probably love the new version and BG-42.

This is the one corner I haven't traveled into yet with my CRK collecting - going back in time to purchase the older models / rare ones.

I have had my hand on the trigger many times for a large regular - I just never did it.

I wasn't aware of CRK during the BG 42 days - wish I was.

I like users - no sense in letting them sit in a safe. Looks like yours is well on its way to making more memories for you.

Congrats on that sweet knife.

I've loved my BG-42 large regular since 1998. In fact, not ten minutes ago I just finished putting a new lanyard and my old clip insert back on it since I got a little nervous last night when a much lesser valued knife nearly worked its way out of my pocket while taking the pooch out for a late night stroll along the wooded paths.

With rain gear and winter coats these days, it's too easy for a mishap to occur, imho.

I have long regarded the Large Regular Sebenza to be the finest folder ever created. I have several in BG-42 and Damascus, but the Large Regular in S30V always remain my favorite. Adding some CGG helps also ;)

Nice knife!! Don't have any experience with BG42, but I've heard it's great. Polished blade looks slick!

Here is mine..... Quite an oldie, but in great shape!
Kinda rare to find, especially in the Netherlands, where l live!
My small regular is a 97 BG42, and it is now on its way back from HQ! It needed some new washers, but they left the scales all alone........ I really like the worn/used look on a knife that age:thumbup:

Thanks for watching Gents

Man those regulars are the beez-neez. My favorite sebenza design by far. Although I have never and probably will never own one. Still, I sure enjoy seeing pics of them!

My very first sebenza was a large regular in BG-42. Still have it, its a keeper.

At last mine is here. Thanks to Bill in PA. It will not be a safe queen (I love those also) it will be my new Pocket King! Not sure that is a real term but the knife in my pocket is always KING. It is perfect and will be even more perfect when it gets some use. I do love a good looking, well taken care of, well used knife. Like NvG79 great looking knife.
