I underestimated just how cold it was out today, I could definitely have done with heavier weight pants and an extra layer on top as well !

I used the Booshway to chop some wood so I could get a fire going...

Got the fire lit no problem with my going gear firesteel ! The big problem comes after when someone keeps pulling apart my fire !!!

I'm gonna start making Maisy wear her coat more often now as she really seems to stiffen up in this cold weather now she is getting older...

Looks like a piece of a dock or floating walkway thats been ripped loose.

Boy, does that look chilly! I would say that big thing is a floating dock, I have one attached to my dock down in a river, which in turn leads out to the ocean. Our boats are tied up to it. They are handy because they move up and down with the tide, so you don't have to take your boat out of the water and easier access to them. I am not 100 % sure, but pretty close to being positive.

So is it upside down, are those sponge blocks the floats ?

Floating dock was my first thought as well. It's upside down. You can see the hinges where that section attaches to the rest of the dock on one end. Probably would make for a reasonable raft, although as narrow as it is you'd need to work up some outriggers if you wanted to make it sea-worthy.

Haha, snickers looks like one of santa's helpers! May look into etodolac for maisy, works great on my old buddy in the cold here. Its like a doggy ibuprofen. Runs around $5 for a month supply down here. I hope to get out this friday to try out my new bhk bushcrafter and cs trail boss on something more than firewood in backyard

x3 on the dock, great pics pit!!

Not a bad problem to have. We enjoy watching your problem regularly.

Cool pics Pit. My old lab used to steal anything I tried to cook over a fire if I didn't keep my eyes on him, but he never tried to steal my firewood lol.

Do their jackets have hoods? I have one for my mutt that has a hood, but it has never been cold enough to justify the hassle. Whenever I put it or his booties on, he just lays down and acts like I murdered his mother in front of him.

I've had the booty problem too, and will be listening for a good pair.

Holy Cr@p Joezilla still lives.. How is the not so new wife? Any kido's on the way? Last I heard you just got a new pup. All well? Sorry for the hijack?

Mine are from a buddy up in Alaska. He helps out with the Iditarod and gathers up booties that the sled dogs lose during the race, so I tell my dog that they are from Iditarod dogs to inspire him. It does not work. :o

That was my first impression, it's a floating dock upside down.

When I was a kid there was a dock like that, that had become detached. The wind blew it to our end of the lake and the owners never retrieved it. We spent the whole summer using it like a raft out in the middle of the lake. Great fun.

I've always wanted to go to Vancouver Island but after seeing so many of your posts I feel like I've already been to all the really cool spots. Mac

My pics still don't do the Island justice buddy, they are mainly from the Southern end of the Island, you should see some places further up !;)
