My bike is logoless:

I'm thinking of ordering in some stickers and I need some advice. I call the bike the Raven because of its shiny black finish. So putting its name on the downtube is one option. Another is to put something "your message here" or "This space available." Comments?

I think it looks great in just black... Maybe a lil Johnny Cash sticker somewhere? ;)

Did you build it yourself?

No, it's sterile -- or it would be if you get rid of the brand on the wheels. Sterile could be very cool. Or if you want to advertise a business how about your own business? Or your own name....

Yeah, get the logos off the wheels and then pick up the red and white stripe motif that is just barely building.

Slightly OT, but what is that big chainwheel it looks like a 39

Is it hilly where you live or am I seeing things in minature?

50. The small ring is 36. It is a fairly common compact crank setup. You are seeing things in miniature.

Don't know about the sticker issue, but I do want to know how much it weighs. What brand of frame?

Great looking ride as is.

it looks like a trek carbon (ie 5000) frame.

i like compact cranksets, i have one on my pegoretti. 50/34 paired with 11-23 casette gives very even shifting performance and it is a good climber.

fred how do you like those topolino wheels? most reviews are very positive, but i have always worried about having to send the wheel back to the company in the event of a breakage

as far as decals....putting one of the old team race sponsors would be cool...ie gitane or bic. there is a black stock car that is decorated in jack daniels #7...i am not a whisky fan but that would be very unique

I think it looks GREAT just the way it is!! But, if you are going to do the sticker thing, how about a little something, something in neon?!

Thanks. The frame was purchased from Pedal Force. It is called a QS2. It is the same frame several manufacturers use on various models. An example is the Litespeed Pavia. It weighs 15.8 lbs complete with pedals, bottle cage and computer. It has a lot of weight saving parts on it and the frame itself wieghs just over 2 lbs. nude.

The Topolino AC39 wheels are pretty strange. They have carbon fiber spokes and instead of the spokes connecting the hub to the rim. They connect the rim to the opposite side of the rim as they go around the hub. They are more than twice as long as a normal spoke. They are self serviceable, understanding that you only have a single source for components. I've played with truing them and it's tricky because an adjustment to one side of the wheel effects both sides. Also you need to remove the tire and rim tape because ti doesn't use normal spoke nipples and the adjusting screws are inside the wheel. But in the end it trues up just fine.

Spoke tension is amazingly high. It is amazing the wheels don't just spontaneously taco but they don't.

They are comfortable, light, strong and stiff, and, having all those characteristics together means they are also expensive. They are easily the best wheels I have ever used. I haven't used them all, of course, but you'd need to get a pretty expensive wheelset to beat them. Great wheels.

I'm going to talk to the sticker man tomorrow and see about getting just the word RAVEN done on both sides of the downtube in white or yellow outline on clear vinyl. I was ready to go with "your message here" but my wife talked me out of it. Thanks guys and happy riding to those of you who are cyclists.

I would probably have RAVEN on the downtube in flat black letters. That and some tires with black sidewalls and no logo. I think that would be nice looking. But then again, I ride a flat black bike myself so it's kinda my preference to have a stealth motif.

Very nice bike. I used to make bike components. I think I may even still have some yellow die cut stickers! :D

pedal force sure made a splash in britain's cycling plus magazine with their carbon frames. their price point does make it an attractive value. as far as another decal idea...you might want to try black on black...like the cannondale synapse. it looks really nice

what are the rest of the build components? i can see the fsa crank and seatpost/? stem. the brake set almost looks like a zero g but i can not tell and the shoes are different. what drive train...dura ace or ultegra?

as you can tell i like bikes...especially the italian stuff

A logo for Raven?

It is believed that the very first flag to fly over America was an image of a raven. It was a traditional Viking flag used by several rulers, and was often known as Landwaster, Land Ravager or Land Destroyer.

Here in Britain it was carried by the Viking invader Harald Hardrada ("Hard Ruler") at the famous battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066, when he was defeated by Harold Godwinsson, king of England.

"Harald Hardruler, King of Norway, had a sign called Landeydan (Landwaster). The King's saga, Saga of Harald Sigurtharson, tells of a quarrel between Harald and Svein, a Danish king: "Svein asked Harald what possessions of his he valued most highly. He answered "his banner "Land-Destroyer"." Thereupon Svein asked what virtue it had to be accounted so valuable. Harald replied that it was prophesied that victory would be his before whom this banner was borne; and added that this had been the case ever since he had obtained it."

Thanks for the history, Otter. It is very interesting. There is good reason to believe the Vikings landed in North America prior to the Spaniards. I'm not sure they made it as far South as what is now the U.S. but they did land in Newfoundland, apparently. Perhaps they did get further South.
